What the fuck is going on with electric car prices?
People are realizing they might want to drive farther than around the corner.
>Used Nissan Altima
>$1500
What the fuck is going on with ICE car prices? Could it be that absolute shitboxes don't retain their value despite what type of propulsion they have?

The only Nissan Altima at that price is a wreak, the used Leaf is a perfectly working car (well, one could argue that all EVs are defective)
Meanwhile, used Teslas have the lowest depreciation of higher end cars.
Leafs are plentiful, and leaf owners often upgrade to the newer leaf/a Tesla.
There are 200,000 sub 200 mile range EVs out there. Practically all of them will hit the used market soon. Sweet deals if you want one (which I do)

LEAF 1.0 is no longer in production. Just bought a new 2017 LEAF for $17,000 after rebates, discounts, taxes, and tax incentives.
11/12 LEAFs have an awful battery that doesnt' like being hot. 13-15 LEAFs battery only has like 80 miles of range. 16/17 LEAFs can do 100 miles.
LEAF 2.0 comes out this fall as an 18 model. Same price, a little bigger, and 200 miles of range at least.
LEAFs are also the most common EV in the USA.
11/12 and some 13 LEAFs in the USA were all sent to Europe after their lease. To be sold on the used car market. So they are the least common LEAFs in the USA.
What year is it?
How much is the equivalent Sentra of the same age?
How much of their value has each retained?

Let's see what's on the market
https://sfbay.craigslist.org/search/cta?query=Nissan&min_price=1000&max_price=5000&min_auto_year=2010&max_auto_year=2013
33 Nissans made between 2010-2013 (when the dirt cheap Leafs were made). No Leafs, but plenty of Versas, Altimas, Maximas, Sentras, a Rogue, Cube, and a Titan. Bump it up to 6k and we get two Leafs, but 50 more total results. It's almost as if all Nissans are cheap garbage and the used market reflects that, electric or not.
>buying electric

The 1st gen Leafs aren't great, their prices reflect that.

>100 miles
The Leaf would be perfect for Europe, but most people who are paying that much for a car ($30k for a car is considered expensive around her because nobody finances their cars, people are more frugal) will not give a shit about saving gas money.
if you wanna lease an EV, this is an excellent utility

Electric cars depreciate faster than luxury cars. That's how massive pieces of shit they are.
