When you get them repaired you can always blast them with rubberized undercoating then cover them with side skirts & over fenders. Alot of S13's get chopped up for those without even having rust, so why not do it with reason.

Fuck I love nissans but they're so fucking meme taxed the only ones I could justify buying would be shut heaps. Maybe I'll just sr20DE swap my miata and pretend I'm a Silvia

How exactly did modern Nissans end up with an exclusively black owner base? Do they advertise heavily in Ebony magazine or something? I don't even live in an area with a lot of minorties but if you see a Nissan 90% chance there's a black dude behind the wheel.

I'm genuinely curious how they become the negromobile.

I guess that's the matte black stuff, it was already applied. Most of these nissans seem to rust from the inside, water gets stuck in the rockers and few places and fucks shit up over time

So ng, what does /o/ think of the Juke?

I fell in love with mine after the test drive. Got the AWD CVT manumatic, and after realizing the last payment on her is next February (life has been a roller coaster the last few years), I've started getting to know her a bit better beyond the typical boring ass commute driving.

I can personally vouch for it's ability to take a hit. (College kids seeking munchies driving an SUV executed a lane change directly into my door, everyone turned out okay).

She's put up with what occasional abuse comes her way and still manages to surprise me on occasion. I've gotten a much better feel recently on how to manage her fuel consumption, and for what the weird driving mode things actually do.

Normal: Computer will seemingly at random decide to downshift when accelerator applied. Suspension seems Goldilocksy. Steering also Goldilocksy.

Eco: Upshift is best shift, transmission will auto Upshift and try to minimize revs. Steering tends toward too little response, Suspension seems same as normal.

Sport: Downshift is best shift. Computer tweaks CVT to prefer to sit in gear ratios that hover around the top of the Rev Band. Steering is more responsive, I may be imagining it but the suspension feels firmer.

I also discovered she can take a 15 MPH hairpin at about 40 with only a slight suggestion of power slide, and remaining in her lane.

Anyone else a fan of the model, or am I just overly fawning over it because she's the first I've bought?

I had gray/gunmetal wheels on there for a year. It's a bit of a dull look. I like more contrast. Next up are bronze TE37s once I find a pair with higher offset to run on the rear.

Four doors, more whores.

For real though, it's a pretty stupid story for me. My parents wouldn't let me purchase a car from a private seller with my own money, and importers/dealers near me only sold the 4-door version, so I went with that. At first I wasn't 100% about the 4-door, but it grew on me pretty soon and the fact that it has 4-doors has definitely come in handy a fair few times.

And besides, the 2-door non-GTR R34 doesn't look that aggressive anyway (unless you get the version with the Aero kit, that looks pretty good, someone on /o/ from VIC owns a lightning yellow one). But with a few simple mods, you can make non-GTR R34s look just as good as the real thing.

Decently reliable, just overpriced for their value.
Like to me I bought my Maxima for $600 & as a $600 car it's worth it.
But other people are asking between $2k-$3k for other 6Speed VQ35DE SE's & that just seems to be an excepted price range for them.
Same goes for any Nissan performance cars. SChassis aren't worth their price tag anymore & they keep going up, people still want close to $10k for 10 year old Z33's & Skyline prices in the states are wack as hell.

>>
>>17711461
It all depends entirely on what you value and where you live. If you're looking for a daily driver that's just a regular old car then you can look elsewhere and find plenty of easy to drive, work on, and maintain cars.

Of course, if you're looking for a specific style of car then you can find it in a lot of Nissans. It just depends what you like. I personally just bought an R33 GTST for 11k AUD, but it was in immaculate condition, pretty much refurbished and fixed from the bolts up and it has a lot of great little QoL improvements.

If you want to make something roadworthy yourself then mechanically you can't go wrong with an RB or SR engine, and there's a lot you can do with them to make them what you want personally.

Knowing 350Z's, the interior on that car looks completely redone. Make sure the carfax is clean and it could be a good buy if it drives good. Biggest concerns should be transmission synchros and engine oil consumption. IF that checks out I'd buy it, looks like it was well kept cosmetically.

I got mine with relatively low miles, and its a turbo. I think one of the biggest money pit problems people face in the community from what I have soon.
Old dying sensors, and old hardened rubber. Vacum lines die out, and electronics dying out.
They're old cars man, and the ones that lives their lives outside aged harder.

Mine was garaged all its life. So I got off pretty easy. NAs can make cheap drift cars if you weld the diffs. If you want a LSD pull the rear end from a Turbo 88 and up from a junkyard.

You can convert a NA to turbo fairly easy as well, easier if you use a turbo relocation pipe as you wont have to use a turbo cross member and turbo oil pan.

Hell you can pull a VG33 from a later year pathfinder or Xterra and put the turbo exhaust manifold on that and go that route.

For ECU tuning, you can get your factory ECU chipped and gives a features you see standalones have.

Cams are a easy option too, you can get the factory Z31 cams reground from Isky, Jim Wolf Technology, and or Schnieder for under 300 bucks for a higher profile. Euro and Jap cams were slightly more aggressive and net 40 hp, but you can go further than that with a reground.

I have never heard of a reground cam fail on anyone.

Depending on the year, you get a different turbo, 84 to middle of 87 used a T3 turbo, good up to 15 psi, but at 10psi you'll need a intercooler.

the Koukis used a T25 turbo, and theyre good for about 12psi before they become inefficient.

>>17716512

>a lot of maintenance

Yes, it's a guessing game of which parts are going to corrode, break in half, or start leaking next. It's best to rebuild and start fresh.

>part availability

Was really bad right when these became legal for import. But luckily you can find pretty much anything on eBay now

In other news, is anyone familiar with how compatible S13, R, or Z series running gear is with an S12? The front brakes aren't great and the rears are drums, and I need to figure out if I can get coilovers for it.

Not worth it from a price for performance perspective. I drove a s13 with a stock s14 sr20de in it around for a couple years, was plenty fun as a corner carver (the non turbo sr is by far the lightest of the easy swap options, about 100 pounds less than the turbo version).

IIRC the SR actually weighs a little more than a CA, since they had to use more material in the block to make it as strong as an iron block.

With accessories and manifolds factored in there's probably not much of a weigh difference though.

>>17722111
Personally think they're kinda ugly, and the engine bay has about as much room to work in as a Z32 turbo.

There are very few Nissan products I would want to own that are made after their merge with Renault. Everything after has just gone downhill.

Haven't checked it out yet because it's located on an island a few miles off shore. I have over 230k on my s12 liftback and it consumes almost no oil either.

If you are surging lugging randomly and its black top : check your TVV valve, its on the top of the block near the coolant temp sensor for the dash. If its not functioning the car is running hella retarded at idle (4* BTDC instead of 15*) and hella advanced under WOT.

Could also be the dizzy weights not moving freely for the mechanical portion of the spark advance.

if its a silver top : the photo-diode and pickup inside the distributor is dying and its misreading the engine speed/location : this also happens if the dizzy drive gear is worn and it has a lot of slop.

Both engines : check the TPS : its only a 3 way switch, but when they go bad sometimes it kicks the ERG valve open and closed rapidly causing weird idle issues. Check Coolant temp sensor and Air Temp sensor.

If you have a "B" transmission, check your transmission gear switches (manuals have contact switches to tell the ECU its in 1/2 3/4 and R)

My honest opinion is wait for an s12 sourced ca18det, then you get the plug and play harness that just plugs into the smj box in the passenger (if lhd) footwell. I see them on ebay every now and then for the same cost as any other ca18det.

I have 230k miles on my z31 as well. It's had over 100k put on it since I've owned it and other than valve cover leaks I've not had an issue. So long as you keep it stock and don't try an mess with it, "it will love you long time". Just make sure you change the timing belt every 60-80k

The engine had a lot more success as a truck engine where it was used from the 80s to the mid 2000s, it's not a sports car you have to baby and maintain all the time

Owning an R33 GTST myself I do somewhat agree with this statement. there's something I really like about it though.
I always found the R32 to be the sexiest car around, and I'm sure there's many people here who agree with me on that, but I always found the R34 far too bulky and chunky looking. The R33 for me had the combination of the smoother, more modern styling of the R34, but with the more lean dimensions of the R32.

Not that it's as lean as the R32. The R32 looks like a sharp, angular bullet of a car, where the R33 really suffers from the '90s melted bar of soap styling.

Overall I have really had the R33 grow on me over the years, to the point where I think it might be my favourite Skyline. Particularly because I like the R33 GTR's wing the most of all the GTR wings, and it still has the R32 styled taillights that are all the same size. It's also a brilliant car to drive, but that goes without saying.

I would love to find a headlight kit that changed the R33 S1 headlights I have to a more R32 style with the integrated indicator.

I'm a z32 owner in Colorado. Rust is not an issue here. However, if you aren't planning on wrenching yourself, you should probably stay away from z32s.

Hey man, im able to get one fairly cheap, same color. Im just concerned how reliable are these as a DD (KA18ET engine)
>>
>>17744727
i never claimed i had big brakes or real wheels on the car but being 5 lug gives me the option to do it whenever, friendo :^) why are you z32 guys always so upset?
>>
>>17744685
unless your super patient, the tiny/cramped engine bay will probably put you off of doing much work on it. Might be a better idea to consider something easier to work on, considering a lack of experience.
But i have never worked on on of those, so feel free not not give my advice any thought - going just of what i've read about them thus far

Stagea for the practicality aspect alone. Look, I have a skyline myself, but fuck me I wish I had a second car at the moment with some capacity for lugging shit around.

Can someone post that R32 wagon Photoshop someone made a while back? I don't have it olin my folder, but fuck me if it isn't my actual dream car.

You'll have to give us a little more info than that, anon.

What country do you live in? What's your budget? What do you want out of a car?

Would I be a horrible person for ironically sticking a GT-R badge on my stock K13 Micra S?
