Before I did track days my friends never really had anything to say.

After track days they started complaining
>You don't need to brake so hard
>Why are you braking with your left foot
>You're not a racecar driver
>You're going to need brakes if you keep driving like this

I never use to brake hard whatsoever until track days. After changing pads a few times the entire process takes about 30 minutes if I'm taking my time.

>Let anon drive, we'll get there early

Also, not sure if it's related to track days, but I do about 10 over everywhere now as well.

If my lady is with me I make sure the ride is smooth.

>Safety first

I always tell her. She gets all flustered and she'll put her seatbelt on.
>>
>>17694880
yeah, i dont understand the normie obsession with saving brake pads. They're not very hard to change or very expensive

one I get hit with a lot is "how do you drive on the right side?"

>yeah, i dont understand the normie obsession with saving brake pads. They're not very hard to change or very expensive
It's not about that, it's about fuel economy and you don't want your brake lights to show up too often on the highway.

>one I get hit with a lot is "how do you drive on the right side?"

What do you mean?
>>
>>17694933
He clearly drives a RHD car.

>About fuel economy
Normies don't coast to stoplights waiting for it to turn green. They'll zip up to a stopped semi, slam on the brakes, and then get upset the semi doesn't accelerate to 60 as quickly as their SUV.

>you're a good driver, Anon
Getting in a decent fender-bender opened my eyes up a bit. I usually drive defensively, being very wary of other cars. However, I also drive offensively where I need to.

I've only really been driving for a few years (got license 12 years ago, didn't need it when I moved to the city), but it feels good to be called a good driver nonetheless.
As long as we get to our destination and no one fears for their life, I think its a job well done.

You engine brake to prevent brake fade so you can actually stop at the bottom of the mountain.
Normies ride their brakes down hills and then wonder why they fucking crash into traffic at the bottom.

t. Appalachian anon currently dealing with a massive influx of Floridians

revmatching to a stoplight is just because racecar meme zomg:brum shit, doesn't really save pads that much
>>
>"Why don't you let the car coast in a downhill"

Because, you stupid bitch who probably bough your license, coasting in a downhill in a fuel injected car waste more gas as there is no fuel cut-off.
Also, I have to use the brakes to control the speed, since there is no action from the engine brake, which makes the pads wear out earlier.

I can't believe there are morons around here that still have the same habits of back when there were only carbureted pieces of shit on the road.

I used to turn around when maneuvering in reverse. My parents told me to use my mirrors. It's been much easier ever since.

As far as parents go, they are used to driving and their reactions are somewhat instinctive, because they do not expect the car to move in that way, even I do it without catching myself.

they will just be replaced by younger morons even more set in their ways either because an older person told them to or because they have such short attention spans they never learned how to properly drive anyway.

luckily that isn't everybody, just a seemingly large proportion. Lots of older people are great drivers, you don't see them because they drive reasonably and don't hold up traffic believing they're "safe".

Literally called Grandma driver by my GF when shes in the car. Always huffing and puffing at me to change lanes and gets upset if we get stuck behind someone turning left. Always brings this up when applicable in conversation with other people.

On my own i drive 100-140km/h most of the time, depending on how well i know the road, traffic, and police presence.

If we drive separately I always arrive at our destination way before her.

>If we drive separately I always arrive at our destination way before her.
No wonder, that's the logical result of this entire between-car-slalom thing. When you do that, you annoy everyone, slow down other cars, cars before you slow down because they see retard in the rear mirror, then you get stuck between someone because you switched to empty lane that was empty for a reason, and then you arrive at your destination late in result. Going fast is good, going fast while sacrificing traffic smoothness is always a wrong choice.

don't worry anon, your gf is a shit driver who has no idea about how traffic works. angry driver = shit driver.

Really? Why? Idling downhill would be great if this want true.
>>
>>17696274
>carb habits
it's mountain habit. you don't brake on the mountain roads because when you have 2km long downhill your brakes would overheat. so, coasting.

rule of thumb there is to coast on gear similar to gear you'd need to put on to get uphill
>>
>>17696926
Because when you put it in neutral it takes away the mechanical advantage of gearing. Same reason trucks downshift, a lower gear with no throttle input reduces speed. Of course they have actual engine brakes that dump the compression stroke and that helps quite a bit. Sometimes they miss gears though, and commercial diesel engines are not designed to spin above 3500 rpm for the most part. It's kinda cool to see a c15 that someone dropped too low and wrapped up to 7k, at least if motors that are blown apart is your idea of cool.

When I was in high school and I had the weekends off sometimes I would go with friends to idyllwild at night in my dads V6 swapped 93 corolla because it was a small hangout back then for car guys and there would be downhill racing since at around 2 am there would be no traffic or popo raced downhill sometimes and friends would tell me I'm pretty good at driving fast. Fast forward to two years ago when I first met my girlfriend did the same thing in my aw11 in idyllwild she got angry and started to scold me on what could go wrong if I keep driving like a retard. She's the normiest of normies and it kinda sucks

Unfortunately this
>huge queue in outside lane doing 80 in a 100
>speedy speed boy flies up behind me at the back of the queue
>does the sickest wangan midnight last minute undertake
>slams the brakes for the semi he for some reason couldn't possibly imagine everyone was passing
>cuts back in and makes everyone brake
>luckily I knew he would do it so I increased my gap to buffer out the Mexican braking wave
>eventually traffic opens up and this retard is doing 90
>check coast is clear before undertaking and resume cruise control at 105

NZ has an issue with outside lane hoggers but even so I would prefer we made undertaking illegal. The frustration of being stuck behind the occasional fuckwit who is immune to increasingly aggressive tailgating and high beams is preferable to the misbehaving of drivers who cannot comprehend that the people in the outside lane all actually want to go faster than them, they just can't because there is traffic

I've been to Daytona twice and there are equal amounts of people doing 15 under and 20 over, with cops that DO NOT CARE.
I was actually passed by a line of cars doing easily 80 MPH with a Florida state trooper tooling along behind them.

The weather gets too humid in the summer, go outside and it's like breathing water. Lots of Floridian retirees are well-off northerners who should probably have moved to California if they wanted t-shirt weather year round, so they come halfway back up the country and stop in the mid-Atlantic states to clog up the roads and act like idiots. They are called halfbacks or snowbirds.

As someone who works in retail, I find Floridians to have the attention span of a key lime, and snowbirds are generally very rude and aggressive when dealing with salesmen, being used to both maliciously lackadaisical Northern customer "service" and native sun-fried Floridians.

So that when your Stacy ass hits me, I don't lose all my skin sliding across the pavement.

>"loud pipes save lives man, yours should be louder"
Dude, it's a straight-piped 250. This is as loud as it could possibly be.

>"is that a Harley?"
No, it's not Harley.
