I found a craigslist add for a '84 Renault Encore with 92,000 miles for $1700. After speaking with the owner All it needs is a new headliner and the gas tank should probably be cleaned out.
He said he got it from an estate sale of a man who worked at the factory and collected cars. It was stored for a long time but he has driven it and says it runs.
I don't care about power. I am just in the market for a new car and would like something unique, but not so unique it is hard to find parts for.
I would be using this as a back and forth to work car but in a few months would be taking it on an 800 mile trip. Am I crazy to be even considering this?
go for it, you will be fine.

Yeah i saw that and I have asked him to explain why all the pics in his ad are in an article earlier in the year. Still waiting for a response.
I always find the Encore front awkward as fuck, the 11 Turbo look is where it's at for me.
Anyway, it's probably the same 1.4 engine Renault had over here, how is its parts market over there? It's possible you might have to import a load of parts from Europe anytime you need them.

He still hasnt responded to my request to see the headliner as it is along with an explanation as to the article on barnfinds.com. I am just really excited at the prospect of getting it but the phone number provided is definitely not named Jim so that is strike 2.
