Is a 2014 BMW 535xi with 31k miles on it a bad idea?

No those new turbo six's are good man, get it if that's what you're interested in.

Thanks, man. It drives well and is real clean. Pretty much loaded, including M Sport and Tech package.

Wow you lucky sob, you'll have a lot of fun with that. My only problem with the new 5ers is they're a little on the porky side but regardless they are great. The issues bmw had with the N54 have all been ironed out so the new turbo I6 in the 2013+ 3ers and 5ers are very good engines.
What's the price on it? Just out of curiosity

I have an opportunity to get it through a friend for $32k.
It's a CPO and has the M Sport Package, Cold Weather Package, Premium Package, Driver's Assistance Package, Driver's Assistant Plus, Navigation, Sunroof/Moonroof, BT, Harmon/Kardon Sound, Black Dakota Leather, RV/Surround Cam.
I agree it's a bit more of a cruiser but where I live that's not a horrible thing. I'm not on crazy intricate roads everyday. Plus I used to have this old Buick that was like driving on a recliner and it was kind of awesome.

I was wrong, it doesn't have Tech Package.

Yeah but it has damn near everything else man.
It's not a roadster sure but anything north of 528 is going to be a damn fun daily driver. That's what 5 series are designed to be; a fun, dependable, comfortable daily driver.
32k is a really good price by the way, you'll drive that car for a long time, definitely up until you have money for another.

I hear ya. That's exactly what I'm thinking, too. I feel like I'm trying to talk myself out of it but, so far, I can't seem to find any reason why I shouldn't pull the trigger.

>I feel like I'm trying to talk myself out of it
Heh, that's called critical thinking, something that's in short supply these days.
I love bimmers but I wouldn't say go for it unless I knew that car would be reliable and fun. The only other car I could recommend according to what it seems you like would be a mercedes e350. You probably won't find one for that price and mileage though and if you're like me then you prefer bimmers so go for it man.

it's a bmw, so yes, bad idea. unreliable pieces of shit that not even bmw specialists can fix.
>speaking as someone whose idiot dad keeps buying bmws, he's gone through 8 in 10 years.

>he's gone through 8 in 10 years.
I don't believe you. Unless you're a rich fag and your dad trades it in if the wiper blades leave a streak or you're a poor fag and your dad can't afford anything but 30 year old shitboxes.
Any used BMW is a bad idea and horrible investment unless you have the time and money for repair cost
>>17688414
Yeah nah, I'm calling bullshit
Your dad either has no idea how to shop for cars or maintain them, or he's just the unluckiest guy in the world.
I've owned 2, my dad owned a few too, he never had any trouble with them and neither have I. The only things that are known to fail are the coolant hoses and water pump after 80-90k miles, neither of which are difficult or expensive to fix.

Depends on the price. It's quite new and has low milage. I'm confident you'll be fine.

suit yourselves, enjoy your disappointment.

i'd prefer the non-X as i'm a rwd fanboy but good car
