The HHR was specifically made to have no soul. Every other car has one, including the Prius.

That is indeed a big stupid truck. Looks alright aside from the oversized wheels with fake beadlocks.

not really fake beadlocks just fake rivets. I thought about ordering them without them but decided they might help to break up an otherwise endless hunk of polished metal.

It's the bond you get when you keep it running. It's the first car I've ever kept running myself.
Plus the only other car like it is the PT. It's unmistakable.
I have two. Yes they both have an identity crisis and aren't pretty. Yes there are faster and nicer cars. I am still happy with mine.
>>17687906
I don't hate it, but please tell me you've at least done some sort of offroading with it?
Yeah yeah it's gonna end up being a money pit.
I still have hope I can keep costs somewhat reasonable by maintaining it well and catching shit early (and never ever giving it to a dealer unless I'd need some tool I can't afford).

It burns a bunch of oil and I think the transmission may need rebuilt as well, but I love it.
After I get it running a bit smoother I want to repair it cosmetically. New trim, or at repaint whats on there black again. 5 lug swap with some new wheels. ESPECIALLY some new lights. Possibly get some new paint on the hood so its not this matte black primer looking stuff
How hard would it be to paint the hood myself?
>>17690401
>>17690461
Yep, '89 conquest. My dad had a starion when I was ten and I've loved starquests ever since. Best looking 80's car imo.

Planning on getting a Saturn S Series for my next car. Planning on getting the SC but if I can't find one an SL will do just fine. I'm a man who values practicality above luxury.
My mom owned an LW300 and the transmission went to shit. I think it was the dealer she got it from because her Bravada also acted up and she bought it from the same place. My stepmom also had engine problems with her Vue.
Are these problems that Saturns are known to face or just problems only their cars faced individually?
>>17688211
Lol.
I'd drive a Veloster. Especially the turbo. There are faster hatchbacks, but there are also slower hatchbacks.

haha thanks, I haven't lost hope in the slightest. I love my truck. I've just never understood why people get so offended by what a complete stranger does to their vehicle. every King Ranch I see around here is bone stock and driven by an old gray-haired guy and that's why I like mine, it's different from the rest.
Did somebody say mid eighties turbo?

>Output shaft seal
>All shocks/struts
>Everything related to brakes
>Steering rack
>Headlight, brake light, and plate light assemblies
>Some exterior trim
He also put on a ricer lip and disgusting chrome trim all over the interior. I ripped that off and spent way too much time returning the interior to stock, plus some Cobra leather additions.
Here's what it looked like when I bought it.
>>17693190
I had the same car in Sonic Blue. 2004 Premium 40th anny. with leather and Shaker 1000 and shit. bought it in 2009 as a full bolt-on car with 16k miles and got freight trained by a tuned diesel truck less than 20 minutes after I picked it up. I still get all sorts of nostalgic feels because that car was fun for a teenager and great for picking up high school sluts, but holy shit that 2v is such a worthless turd of an engine.

Talking shit bout the best American Korean love child of downhill fun car.
This poor dear was driven all the way across the continent illegally.
Ontario to BC.
Previous owner was a young shit eating chink that would make you want to punch his teeth in.
Only $800
Was partway through being turned into a shitty riceburner.
Tail lights were tinted.
Rims were painted over in black.
Shitty exhaust.
Interior smelled of a mix of terrible air fresheners and stale cigarette smoke.
Interior was incredibly dirty, stains, thick brown dust, lights burned out everywhere.
Tires were leaking air, brakes in rear were nonexistent, windshield cracked, calipers seizing.
Despite all this car only had 180,000km (kilometers) on it.
Bought her and regretted it.
The stupid chink didn't give me valid papers for it.
Was going to give it back to him and get my money back.
He lead me on until he could bail on a flight somewhere and I couldn't get in touch with him anymore.
Insurance places wouldn't touch the damn thing for months, had to work a case file as thick as a dictionary with multiple notary visits.
8 months pass and I finally get a temporary permit granted to get it inspected and hopefully insured.
Take it to inspection, It fails horrible but not as bad as I thought it would be.
Drop $2500 in repairs to made it road legal.
Did a whole bunch of extra stuff to her, detailed it myself, repaired the AC and replaced bunch of other stuff from an old dead forester I have.
Got really nice tires for her, switched to synthetic, new brakes all around, new windshield, new calipers, new filters etc.
So $3300 and 8 months of my time and stress.
Probably not worth it to a lot of people but it just makes her that much more special to me.
I love it and it's fun to drive.
And when the headgaskets go in a few years, I will be more than happy to drop another few thousand to keep her running.
My baby.

Sides = Gone
Buy 2013 Dart new, manual, turbo, redline metallic
Make it just a month before something stupid breaks (steering column shear bolts), warranty fixed.
Eventually decide "fuck the warranty nobody cares about these" and start doing the scheduled maintenance myself
Remove interior for mad empeegees and cargo room
Fancy auto dimming mirror stops working
In-dash HVAC controls stop communicating with the BCM so the blower doesn't turn on even though it spins fine and the plenum vanes move when selected
Deal with having no AC or heat below 80 MPH for three years
Enroll in community college auto tech classes so I can have a nice garage to work in with cool ASE master techs to help me
Not even Alldata and an electronics course can help me figure out what the fuck is wrong with the HVAC module
All replacement parts are buttfuck expensive -- unless you're buying whole used engines and wrecked cars
Engine needs special tools for everything but the timing belt -- which requires the engine be removed from the car
Still pigfat and slow
Fast forward to 3 months ago
Dart paid off, KBB now <$9,000 for a 4-year-old $25,000 car gee thanks FCA
Driving around BHPH lots to find someone dumb enough to take it as a straight trade for a Miata
See white '99 NB and stop in
Listed as a 25A (obviously it isn't) for 5,500, 150,000 miles with mild front end damage from the previous owner
Interior is clean and comfy, leather package with motorized antenna = LSD, includes mint tonneau cover with the dealership stock sticker still on it.
Clutch feels weird but engages fine, wheel bearings obviously worn out, oil is low, but car is obviously well loved by its 5 previous owners
Get Carfax, very detailed history of sitting in Mazda dealerships and southern geriatric's garages -- never left the South
Show elderly salesman the interiorless Dodge, ask if he'd be willing to trade for the Miata -- says yes almost without hesitation
Roll out of lot with free Miata -$85 for registration/tax
>contd.
>>17696736
Why? I don't know a single person who has driven both and not prefered the S550. American performance cars always get better with each generation.
>>17704981
First things first - take it to Mazda dealer for inspection, have them replace clutch hydraulics and diff fluid, might as well have them change the oil too.
Drove it on a 500 mile road trip with no issues whatsoever.
Come back, do oil and filter, wheel bearings, accessory belts myself, replace cam cover gasket.
Inspect timing belt -- changed around 75000, still looks good but buy belt kit anyway
Clean the FUCK out of the intake manifold, adjust idle
By this time I've already got ~3500 miles on it from dicking around in the mountains
Change oil again around 155,555
Weird jerkiness under clutch application, idle droop, kinda sounds misfiry under load, odd ticking noise not coming from engine block or head
Discover someone put Iridium plugs in, NB coil pack hates them, swap out for Denso coppers and NGK wires
Now drives perfectly smooth with no strange noises except heat shield rattle
Parts are incredibly cheap and easy to find locally
Can be disassembled completely with a handful of metric sockets and wrenches
AC works, heat works, transmission shifts like a gun bolt, LSD makes it turn on a dime
No fucking body computers deciding when I can engage the blower motor or turn my headlights on or honk my horn.
Service info all over the web, electrical diagrams concise and easy to understand, over 25 years of experience and info from millions of owners -- you can literally google "miata" and whatever your problem is and find solutions to every conceivable problem.
Absolute driving bliss in any conditions
I fucking love this car and I wish I had just bought one to begin with instead of a shiny FCA turd with a cool engine that can't be serviced without a spell circle and an offering to Satan.

My favorite is the 2005-2009. <3
Got it for $750 dollarydoos. Single elderly owner, 164k (km), immaculate interior, in storage for the past ~10 years.
The only thing stopping it from being in roadworthy, legally drive-able condition is a tiny hole in the rear muffler - Which I was too busy to fix initially so I palmed it off to my brother-in-law who was super enthusiastic about it. Eight months later she's still rotting away in his backyard. He's been given until next weekend before I just get it fucking replaced like I'm going to need to eventually anyway.
At some point I intend to respray it myself. She'll never be anything beyond 'sweet old grandpa car' aesthetic, but I like that.
