Volvo 240 as my first car - yay or nay? The reason I want one of these is that I live in Norway and cars are expensive as FUCK to own unless it's classified as a veteran car, which means it has to be over 30 yrs old.

do it.

Can't lie. It's pretty tempting. Manual, RWD, safe and reliable
>Find a volvo 240 with 230k miles on it
>Drop pebbles in the cylinder
>Flush the pebbles with 10w-30
>Take off the radiator for weight savings
>Air filter, too
>It'll still make it to 1 million miles
Gud first car, literally cannot be killed.

I don't get it
Do it, I bought a 740 as my second car after a rx7, wish I had bought the volvo sooner.
Great in the canadian winters too, should be fine in norway, plus you shouldn't lack for parts

these attributes are all you need

DOIT just keep up on basic maintenance.
Had a 1990 244 DL as my first car. No AC, but did fine, even with the wrong ignition coil installed for 3 years which made it hesitate/stall.

Go for it I always wanted it as my first car, but my parents were antsy about it mainly because each one for sale around my area is 150K+ miles and my parents were the type to think that any used car with over 100K miles weren't worth buying. I should probably buy one now.
