What the fuck is that video? Does this guy simply have a fake on on his bundle?

Some son of a bitch must've tried to steal my car in Riverside where it had lived, they probably tried to break the ignition and crank it like an old car, but it wouldn't go, so the PO had to get another ignition cylinder from another Honda, the black key opens my doors and trunk, the grey one starts it

It isn't a CM if it isn't broken in some way.

My mom's car doesn't start unless she has her seatbelt on. It doesn't seem like much but at least it stops an amateur carjacker from taking it because they wouldn't expect it. The more experienced ones would probably make light work of it though.

The family car has an immobilizer system. If you don't press the hidden button within 20 seconds after starting the engine the car shuts down, alarm goes off, and the doors are locked. It's hidden under the dash though so it's not exactly hard to find. I guess that too can be easily circumvented.

My EK doesn't even have an alarm system lol.

Do any of you guys know about crv issues? My mom's 04 CRV has a slight gas vapor smell coming from the rear of the car. There's no visible liquid leaking so I know it's likely minor and just letting out small amounts of vapor. I told her it's probably a leak in the fuel line near the tank. The car has been reliable as all hell aside from this issue. Anyone know more about this?
>>
>>17688563
She make sure to turn the gas cap until it clicks 3 times?
>>
Got me an Odyssey battery on the way. Heard they're pretty sweet and super lightweight. Figured I'd give it a shot since it's around the same price as a traditional battery including the purchase of terminals.
>>
>>17688563

Hes nobody.
>>
>>17688588
Actually she's entirely forgotten to put it back on a couple times now, I'll check the cap when she comes back.
>>
>>17688595
The water or the island? Definitely doesn't smell like fiji water but I imagine it smells like the island because people there are so poor there they probably use gas generators routinely.
>>
>>17688563
probably not the fuel line itself, could be the charcoal canister in the EVAP system is saturated with fuel from overfilling the tank. Does she try to fill the gas tank up past the first pump shutoff?
>>
>>17688563
Had the same issue. The first thing we tried way buying a new gas cap and it turns out that's what the issue was. There were no visible signs the old cap was bad though, but changing it worked for us.
>>
>>17688630
Any time I've gone to the gas station with her I've seen her take out the pump after it automatically shuts off so I don't think so. Think there might be something slowing the flow of gas out of the filter?
>>
>>17688644
Thanks man, I just called her and told her to get a new cap. I hope that fixes it, I know these cars are built like tanks so I wasn't really sure about it being a fuel line leak.

I honestly started forgetting about it

Yeah timing belt interference is the only downsides, but I already had the belt changed not too long ago so I'm not too worried. The Corolla starter is under the intake manifold too but If I remove a tire and use a really really long ratchet extension I can get it out without messing with anything else. The nice thing about the 1.8 7A-FE in the Corolla is that it's non interference so I don't even need to think about the belt. If it pops then no big deal.

Pay someone $70 to mill the block, also it probably needs a rebore if there is serious warping.

This is a good time to get some new lightweight pistons/conrods or used lightweight pistons/conrods with the same specs as your old ones. It will rev freer and you'll gain a few extra CC's with the rebore and increased size pistons.

Check that the crank is within spec, get new main bearings/conrod bearings, etc etc.

Get yourself a digital torque wrench and spec sheet for your engine.

Hey /hg/
I'm about to buy my first car without any help from others, I'm a real amateur to cars in general and know little to nothing about them in general.
If you're willing to educate this anon I think I would like to look into the Honda/Acura Integra line. I like the look of them but I don't know how the perform or which year to go with.
My budget is $7,500 AUD rupees but willing to compromise if it seems warranted.
If there's any guides, references, comparisons etc I'm more than willing to do the research on my own if I'm steered in the right direction.
>>
>>17689627

>>17689681

>>
>>17689694
Is there a "sweet spot" for the integra line, when it comes to money to performance?
Also how do Integras compare to other vehicles around the same price mark / year?
>>
>>17689089
My little ek coupe I just bought like a month ago. Just bought new bumpers so those and the side skirts in the shop getting painted. I was told it was leaking from the valve cover, so I changed it but never cleaned the engine. I suspect it's still leaking from somewhere else tho. If it's a head gasket I may just B swap it in a month or two when it cools down. I'll post pics when I put the bumpers on. I feel I went too dark with the tints which is sad.
>>
>>17689700
There's a base model, the Type R and Type S which both are higher performance.

They're not the fastest car for the price but you can have plenty of fun driving it. It's fine for a first car.

Civic is back on the road. Turns out the battery was fine and it needed a new main relay. Odd because with the old relay, the ECU was giving me pretty low voltage readings for my battery. New relay the voltages look fine. I can't return the Odyssey battery so I guess I'm just gonna put it in anyway. Just gotta figure out what I could use the old battery for.

240 pistons, crank, etc removed down to the bare block

the edges of the cyl wall were re-polished with a drill bit for cleaning cylinders. There's no gross rust anymore and it looks pretty clean. Gonna cheap out and reuse the pistons after replacing the rings and bearings in the engine as those look like the only thing needing real attention other than things being dirty.

I've been scrubbing away, it'll take time but next up is fixing the steering rack with a rebuild kit.

My dad was a professional motorcycle drag racer and has basically always forbade me from riding motorcycles.
I'm 26 but I'm still super paranoid about bikes.

Speaking of my dad, here's the story on the Z31:

I took this week off from my job, and went over to my dad's to wrench on shit. I slept in until ~12:30. My dad starts talking to me and says, "I bought a car". Now, knowing my dad, that's not really that surprising, but then he says the following:

"I was waiting for Larry (his friend) and reading the newspaper. I saw an ad for a 1988 turbo 300zx and thought that that was one of the cars you were looking to buy. So I called the guy and went over there to look at it. It's completely rust free and only has 70k miles on it. 5 speed, black on black, 2+0. I negotiated him down to $2850 and we made a deal. I'm not sure if the 88 was the one you wanted or not, but if it is, you can buy it from me for what I paid, otherwise I'm just going to flip it."

Wtf dad

I have an oil leak somewhere but I can't figure out where. There's oil sludge on the bottom of the filter and then everything surrounding it. Apparently it's been so long that the engine and everything around it is just covered in grime. I changed the valve cover gasket a couple months ago and the leak was there prior so I'm assuming it's not that. I've put about 10 quarts of oil in in the last two months because it either burns or leaks. Engine is k20a2. All I have is a jack and stands and I can see from underneath, but it's still difficult. Any ideas?

Good luck with the alternator, hope you don't need luck though. Mine was a pain in the ass getting out and in. You'd need to remove the power steering pump, and work on getting it out from the engine bay and the wheel well. Once you get the new one in (after a lot of cussing and busted knuckles) you have to tighten the son-of-a-bitch pivot bolt as much as you can, otherwise it'll short out the ECM. Again.

Good luck with yours, anyways.
>>

Ok so we are at code red here.

I cleaned out the 300zx and there was some signs of some mouse activity. I am under the impression that the little bastard is still in there and that I brought him home with me.

Set up some glue traps and put down some peppermint oil.....

I swear to god I'm going to get this little fucker.

It'll be fine. For some reason the only car that ever gets attacked is the white CRX. Literally drove it for the first time like a week ago and then a possum came and absofuckinglutely destroyed everything.

At least its the car I dont give a shit about
>>

That one seems to have all the bad luck. Was it yellow at some point? kek
>>

No it doesnt have the y49 curse, however one of the doors and the hatch were blue.
I bought it from a basketball american for like 800 bucks, why wouldn't it be cursed?

I still kinda want regardless. If only I was closer. I think my car is cursed but I've been fighting it.

I'd love to get out of the south to be honest. My current income couldn't support it, I think. Though not having snow or rust is nice.

Ausfag here. Of the 80s / early 90s era hondas available down under, which ones are generally considered the best for driving in the hills? I'm looking for something to learn in and only modify when necessary.

Budget is looking to be 3-4 grand.

How do they stack up against other FWD jap cars of that era, too? I could easily find an ST162, AE82, or N13 for that kind of money, for example.

Thanks m8 I'm pretty happy with the final result.

I have a problem with it though. The passenger window doesn't work. Checked the fuses, they were good. Child switch is on/off and doesn't make a difference. Passenger switch doesn't do anything either. I bought a whole new regulator and motor and hooked in up to the connection and still no movement. Any ideas?

What should I buy:

DC2 Type R JDM

EK4 with H22a fitted.

EG6 with B18c

Dc5 type s, completely stock. 160hp
>>
>>17710318
I'd get the Type-S .

Its easily the slowest of the three. I'm really tempted by the DC2. Its so much fun to drive.

I don't intend to modify any of them.

I think the Corolla is RIP guys. Mom went for a cruise to New Orleans with my sister and it overheated and died. Went to check it out and the oil light is on and it just cranks and cranks not even close to starting up. Mom told me not to lecture her so I kept to screaming internally.

I'm already on a car hunt and I want my third Honda.
>>
>>17711185
That's terrible dude, thing was a piece but it worked.
>>
>>17711204
Yeah I'm a bit sad but it had so many little issues that I was kind of expecting it soon. I assume the oil pump shit the bed. I tried cranking it with one spark plug out at a time and I got puffs of exhaust out of the holes so I'm not sure what's going on.
>>
>>17710318
DC5 because it's completely stock
>>
>>17711213
>update

My mom's brother in law is a very good friend of ours and runs a used car dealership. Mom's credit is fucked up but I should be able to get a replacement car financed using her money. Hoping they have some good Hondas in stock.

Also my hatch may need a new gauge cluster. I was driving mom home and every time my turn signal ticked, the speedo and tach needles were bouncing and the car was jumping for every bounce. Something is definitely fucked up in that cluster.
>>
>>17711185
well if it doesnt run the oil light will be on because you wont have pressure. Unless you mean you are cranking it over and over and the light never goes out.

>>17711311
Maybe a ground issue? idk what jumping means.

blog: cleaned out all of the mouse mess in the passenger side of the car. (blower is on that side too) He nibbled on exactly 2 wires, which are for the glovebox light. Considering there were about 3000 acorns in the blower, I don't think he ever got hungry. I'm assuming he's gone because I haven't heard him and he didn't go into any traps.

I think im going to try to pull the radio or maybe the gauge cluster to make sure I got all of the mess. But it looks like the passenger side was the nest area.
>>
>>17711544
Yeah the light stays on while cranking. Tow truck is here now so I'll have it back home soon. By jumping I mean the engine is. Like it's trying to cut off because the cluster is acting up.
>>
>>17711563
sounds kinda ICM related
Could still be a ground

Got the Corolla home. I already got plans to replace it hopefully Monday. Gonna check out my uncle's used car dealer and find a nice Honda or something that I'm more familiar with working on.

There are a lot of CM5s for like a grand but that seems like a big scam. I refuse to believe they're that cheap.

How are my Honda bros doing...?

If I want to go off road in a Honda machine, what should I look for? I'm talking like, suzuki sidekick, yj jeep type thing, or maybe a Tacoma. Does Honda make anything like that?
>>
>>17714140
Honda was pretty much sedan and coupes only until the CR-V came out in the later half of the 90's. But sure how capable they are but they do have AWD models.
>>
>>17714165
I always wanted honda to break into the truck game. Is the Ridgeline really meme status? It almost hits me with a Subaru Baja vibe, I dunno.
>>
>>17714187
The newest Ridgeline is pretty good but the old one was pretty lame. Honda basically built it for people who buy trucks but don't use them for truck things. It's kinda like the Chevy Avalanche I'd think.
>>
>>17714208
>buy truck for non truck things
Hm. That might be me. Could it take me off road to campsites and lakes and such? Not a rock crawler per se, I do that by hand. Just something that won't get mired too badly, and having a place to store snatch blocks and a place to mount a self recovery winch just in case isn't bad either.
>>
>>17714241
I think it would be good for that. They built the new one just for that. It has speakers and outlets in the bed and you can even get a tent from Honda to put on the back. It's pretty much a camping truck. Not sure if the first gen had stuff like that though.
>>
>>17714254
Nice, about what year? I don't mind waiting a bit but I don't want to purchase a brand new truck, and leasing wouldn't work especially if I wanted to keep it to beat around trails and such.
>>
>>17714297
The second gen is still pretty new so not sure how much they go for. I don't know much about the model itself honestly. I just know they built it for camping and traveling. It's basically a Pilot with a truck bed.
