>>17678036
Because it's ridiculously good value. They cost almost nothing and you get a functioning car that's surprisingly practical for its size, is piss easy to repair, uses almost no gas, has almost nothing in it to go wrong and in the event something does go wrong, parts are dirt cheap.
The goofy face helps too.
>>17678036

Twingo in Taiwan
My Twango is having a mysterious problem.
I'm just driving around (speed doesn't matter) and the motor just stops. Sometimes it comes to its senses but most of the time I have to give the ignition a go.
What the fuck might be the problem? Is the injection fucked? Or is it another problem?
The car works flawlessly except for that sporadic thing.
>>17692947
not a pro but
check your sparkplugs + connections and the airfilter. also, did your fuel pump make whining noise? I know lots of people who drive with near empty tank all the fucking time without knowing it fucks up a fuel pump (because the gas is also used to keep the bearings lubed).

I don't know why but owning a car like the twingo would just allow me such a high level of comfort while driving, I can just tell by the look, that me and this car would have many comfy cruises together. Wish I could get one in the USA as a secondary driver, and the crazy part is I'm being serious.
>>17693808
Don't quite get what makes you think they're overly comfortable.
They're supposed to be cheap short distance cars and not highway cruisers.
But to be honest in their class they were the most comfortable little shits back then (probably mostly because of the relatively long wheelbase while the competition tended to be nervously bouncy or hard). And despite not being made for that they also feel really alright on longer rides (you see a TON of high mileage ones around, 300k and more are common) BUT they're loud inside above 110km/h which is most definitely not comfy at all.
So I'd say they're more comfortable than you'd expect from a 1993 car that size but there are most definitely more comfortable alternatives around, especially when you're commuting longer distances frequently. Even >2004 VW Polo
would be comfier for longer rides and those can be had for dirt cheap by now too.
Don't respond to it, tripfags don't need any more attention. Even this is too much.
>>17692947
Check your fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge. Obviously be careful if you have to manually tee into a fuel line, because it's a high pressure fuel line and you could shrek.
Not a Twingo guy, but assuming it's Bosch fuel injection like most things are, you got four things to check.
>fuel
Are you getting fuel pressure at the rail? Are your injectors firing properly, and not dirty, stuck, or clogged? Is your fuel filter clean?
>spark
Do you have good, strong spark hitting on all 4 cylinders? Are your distributor cap and rotor (if you have one) clean and free of corrosion? Are your spark plugs properly gapped, and not fouled? Is your ignition coil within spec? These things are easily tested with a cheap multimeter and a cheap inline spark tester (you can get both for $10 at a parts store). Spark plugs are also easy to change, and are good to get your feet wet with working on cars if you aren't used to it yet.
>air
Do you have any large intake leaks? This may or may not throw a code if you have a somewhat modern engine management system. This can be as simple as a loose hose clamp, a cracked hose or rubber boot, or as complicated as a decayed brake booster or manifold gasket that needs replacing.
>sensors
If you have an oxygen sensor, is it working? If you have a crank position sensor, is it clean and working?
>miscellaneous
My E30 had a problem a while back where if you hit a bump hard enough, it killed the engine. It turned out to be the main EFI relay that was sitting loose in one of its terminal connections. There are all sorts of switches and sensors and relays, depending on how your specific car is set up, that can fail and cause a variety of problems. It's super satisfying when you find the problem and fix it yourself instead of paying a garage hundreds though.

The higher the bill you didn't have to pay because you did it yourself and/or the longer or complicated the search for the problem, the bigger the satisfaction (and load)

Why is the twingo so lauded when the mini is just as cute but FAR, FAR better to drive?

New minis are abominations.
>>17715321
He isn't wrong. This is a meme gone too far.
>>17719160
and is the original twingo still produced? is ANYONE in this thread referencing the newer twingos? if so, why do the shit new minis even matter if the mediocre gen2 Twingos don't?
I'm failing to see how later models being shit has any bearing on my point.
>expensive
£3k for a good low mileage classic mini, and they are not very expensive anywhere in europe.
And if you're American, you'd have to import the Twingo which would make it almost as expensive as a domestic Mini anyway.
>>17719197
Because for the price of a decent Mini, you could get SIX decent Twingos. They're the epitome of cheap, and for their size surprisingly practical.
That and they look goofy as fuck, the "face" is perfect meme material.

You're comparing a modern cheapo meme car to a classic car. They are in two completely different categories.
>>17719306
>without giving up a whole lot of amenities?
A Twingo is pretty barebones, mate.
>>17719313
Can you hold a conversation in a mini while going 70mph? Can you drive over speed bumps without punching holes in your roof with your head in a mini?
>>17719330
They're very similar cars when you break it down. They were designed as simple, affordable transport for the masses. Not a lot of amenities, thin door panels, small engine, mechanically not very complicated.
Honestly the Twingo is like the Mini of the '90s/2000s. Everyone in Europe knows someone with a Twingo, everyone has a story involving a Twingo, everyone knows what a Twingo is.
It's a goofy looking, cheap, simple, versatile shitbox that doesn't pretend to be anything else and that's exactly what makes it great, just like the original Mini.
>>17719375
You can't really compare a 60s car and a 90s car though.
>>17719401
They made the classic mini up until 2001. Mine's from '97.
Would it look kitsch to make a fake-wood interior for Twingo?
>>17719612
Yes, fake wood looks terrible no matter what car. Especially an unapologetically bare bones shitbox like a Twingo.

>>17719043
>Why is the twingo so lauded when the mini is just as cute but FAR, FAR better to drive?
Twingo gets posted here a lot pretty much mainly because its front end works so well as reaction image.
Bonus is that it's cheap and actually practical but as I said it's mainly the "face".
If that is not enough for you, you're probably not autistic enough for this place.
>>17720657
The ones from Japan ARE lefthand drive (pic highly related) because as far as I know they never officially get to Japan and only got imported by freaks like us.
>>17720657
The first gen was only made in left hand drie.
What about this one
>>17723176
doesn't look as cute, is really crammed inside and it's kinda idiotic that despite having the engine in the back there's no usable boot in the front.
also too weak to break the rear wheels lose so the RWD is kinda pointless and probably only for the good turning radius.
still looks better than a modern mini, kia or something.
>>17723176
RR layout has potential to be super hektik, but Renault won't make an RS version with fully defeatable TC/ESC because that would be too hektik.
Also it doesn't even have a frunk, which kinda defeats the point of making it RR in the first place.
Smug lil cunt though.

>mfw there's a Twingo GT now with 110hp and STILL no one who bought it had the balls to fucking rip out the ESP fuse for a fucking moment
IS THIS FUCKING TOO MUCH TO ASK. I WISH ANIGGA WOULD.
I guess most who buy it fear losing the warranty or something and most car media is too faggy to try it.
110hp might not seem much but for a sub 1ton car this would be ENOUGH to get some drifting shit done. Even the original AE86 was weak as fuck and they still drifted that cunt like madmen. It's just a matter of the setup.
