It doesn't matter, zombies, nukes, famine, what vehicle would you see a lone survivor driving around at a time of disaster

Any diesel truck/tractor made before the electronics and emissions invaded.
Something with a common engine will be easy to service and you can find parts anywhere. They run for millions of miles, you can run people over and won't even feel it, and since it's diesel you can attempt to run it on all sorts of shit.

Except the powers that be have intentionally kept diesel from being mainstream.
So there are no diesels you can find parts for anywhere.
Why do you think they won't sell diesel Jeeps in the US?

Buy a truck with an International DT466E. The same engine has been made for decades and there are probably millions of them, if not hundreds of thousands still running. And the company still makes that same engine today (brand new) but they can't sell it for on-road trucks in the US because emissions.
The rest of the trucks are so basic, there's barely anything to break if you don't care about the HVAC system or lights. And the engines are super easy to service. Truck transmissions will go for miles and miles too, especially hooked up to a smaller engine like the DT466 if you aren't towing shit all the time

Truth. I managed a couple of industrial battery shops and the DT-466E was the go-to truck.
