Hey big guys, so I recently bought a car and afterwards I found out that the the front electric plug/lighter doesn't work. My plan was to buy an aux/usb adapter and play music off my phone through it (pic related). So I was disappointed BUT I realized a bit after that I have another plug in the back of the console, accessible to the rear passengers that actually works. So my question is, will such an aux/usb adapter still function despite it being in the rear of the car? As in, is the audio still connected to that plug as well? Will I be able to buy this adapter and listen to music through an aux cord via the rear plug in? Thanks in advance, big guys.

Your 12v electrical port (cigarette lighter) is in no way connected to your audio system. Even if the front outlet worked it would only charge your phone.

Do you have a tape deck? Those tape deck aux converters work alright, you should probably just get a new head unit though, one with aux is cheap AF
>>
>>17646741
Not OP but you can very clearly see the number on the unit in the OP, right? It's an FM override style adapter.

Oh ogay. Thx m8. I kinda suspected that, but I wanted to make sure.

You can get a new head unit with fucking Bluetooth for pretty goddamn cheap, and even paying someone to install it for you isn't that bad.
>>
>>17646760
No I didn't see that, but I've never been able to get those to work reliably

Yeah I wanted to do that but I don't actually have a tape deck in the car.

Seems like head unit replacement is your best bet then. They are really cheap, even for Bluetooth like another anon said. I remember getting a Bluetooth and aux enabled double din unit for $60 (burgerbux) if you can't afford now you could always just endure for awhile and save up

Okay, I'll check that out. What does the head unit replacement mean exactly? Like do they take out my audio system/interface? I'm spooked
>>

Go to Best Buy, they'll have a car audio section. Find the cheapest one with an aux cable or Bluetooth. Flag down a goon and be like "ey yo gimme dis" they've probably got an installation bay in the back. Drive around, they'll put it in. That's the easiest way to do it. You could go to an actual car audio shop or you could order one on amazon and do it yourself if you were so inclined.

This is an after market head unit. It just replaces that physical hardware that you touch and see, it still connects to your existing system and wires. No offense intended, but it sounds like this may be out of your comfort zone to do by yourself. Luckily, any car audio shop or a place like Best Buy will install it for you for minimal cost. It's really not too complicated if you feel like learning it yourself to save money though.
>>
>>17646833
Oh wow okay, that sounds pretty convenient. Thanks Anon, I will look into that next time I go to Best buy™.
>>
>>17646836
Nah you're good m8, thx for the recommendation. That seems like the way to go.
>>
Well, considering that other cars pick up the signal from this, which is a radio waves emitter, you should have 0 problems.
