He said he can get me a suzuki cappuccino for only 4000 dollars (1000 for shipping). I am broke so i cannot get a r32, but what other recommendations do you have for a jdm car under 5000?
>>
Also he said if i knew anyone that wanted to buy a car he can hook any one of you up. Just let me know if you are interested. Only thing he said he can't do is any car made past 1992.

My uncle said r32's are getting more expensive because of fast and furious so he said if i can get 20g's he can ship it to me. problem is 20 grans is how much i make in 2 years
>>
>>17640342
I can't import any of these cool cars because California

How much for a Subaru 360?

Also, Autozam Az-1, if they arent too rare, idk.

AZ-1s aren't that rare, there are 18 up for auction right now on jdmcars.jp. AZ-1s are sick, there is a guy on youtube who autocrosses one and its a literal gocart.

Perhaps a well kept Integra XSi or CR-X SiR, those might fall in your price range as well as being easier to maintain stateside, considering your limited budget.

That's light. If you can stand the shame of driving a car even gayer than the miata, do it.
>>
>>17640407
GTS-t still cheap but GTRs are going up fast. Japanese Classics is shady as shit tho.

I love the r32, but for 20k I could get something much better.

It's a cool little roadster. Usually I hate Hondas but I would buy this. But I personally like microcars.

Like if anyone is interested, i can have my uncle send some pics of some cars.

I'm interested in importing an FC to Florida. I can probably get one for under 5k with Pacific coast auto but if you have a better option let me know.

Guys, i just thought about something. Where the hell would i take a JDM vehicle for repairs. I really want a cappuccino but i don't think anyone does repairs anywhere. Can i just take it to a normal mechanic?
>>
>>17641217
It's a 660cc 3 cylinder. A bike shop could prolly fix it
>>
>>17640446
>Japanese Classics is shady as shit tho.
What do I need to look out for with these guys? I was planning to buy from them since I'm not too far from that place.
>>
>>17641217
I was looking at buying one of the kei cars once i finish college in a year, here were my thoughts on the matter.

>Pick your domestic platform of choice. In the US, I was thinking Tercel, Metro, Civic, etc. Begin swapping over suspension pieces as they break down. Or you can order parts from Japan, but then you have to wait and then things start to get expensive.

It's a kei car, things are small and light and easy to fix on your own, as long as you have the know how, and it would most definitely be a labor of love.
>>
>>17640378
>My uncle said r32's are getting more expensive because of fast and furious

your uncle is stupid.

R32 GT-R's were never in the Fast and the Furious and that stupid series is not the reason they are popular.
>>
>>17640729
it was never in Tokyo Drift

>>
>>17641252
I am scared. I wanted a small car that wa sunique, reliable, fun, and easy to learn mechanical wizardy on, but i am worried that what if i cannot buy parts due to the fact the cars were not available here?
>>
>>17641307
Also Where would i get new brake pads and rotors and all of that? i plan on taking corners and shit, i will need to rely on my brakes
>>
>>17641289
No your uncle is right about R32 GT-R's being expensive.

But you mixed it up with the blue and orange Nissan Silvia S15 which are no where close to being legal to import to the United States.

>>17641307
assuming you have a smart phone, you have the entire internet at your fucking finger tips.

time for you to do some research on forums. there are plenty of dudes in the US that have rare kei cars from Japan and they get by just fine.
>>
>>17641243
Most of the reviews i see online are generally positive, however there are some scattered reports of them getting cars in really bad condition, fixing them up, and not reporting it to the customer. But those stories about Japanese classics are far more rare. (relative to the positive stories) There was one story of a repair/restoration job done to a R32 GTR that used really poor quality parts. Another one I heard was that some Si-R Civic was advertised as a car with no serious accidents when in reality it was wrecked before.
But if you live close to their warehouse/dealership, I would still check out their inventory in person. The good thing is the fact you can inspect each car in person before purchasing
>>
>>17641337
I am literally finding nothing on kei cars in the US. I am paranoid about buying a 25 year old car that will become the ultimate paper weight once it breaks.
>>
>>17641323
buy online you dope
>>
>>17641307
brakes/rotors aren't unique to cars like ECUs are, if they fit they fit. You could swap out everything from the CV axle down to the joints to the control arms when you start swapping over, may be a bit of a cost up front but if you did something like a Miata the parts would be cheap and plentiful and then you have loads of handling aftermarket choices.
>>
>>17641415
Oh i found a bunch of parts on nengun, and some brakes on memebay. I also say a reliability index that puts Suzuki at #3 in reliability, making it more reliable than almost every other brand. Also (i am no mechanic so don't quote me on this) an under powered engine usually means it will last longer right?
>>
What about a eunos roadster? JDM miatas have better resale value, there are a plethora of parts and they are fun. Also they are in way way better condition thatn the ones i find on craigslist

I dream of owning pic related

im like 188cms , i dont know what that is in ft but probably like 6ft2. Could i fit in one of those kei cars? i like them but theyre small as fuck

Get the r32.

Cars are a money pit.

..the r32 will actually make you money when you come to sell it.

One of only a few sure things.

Although i have no idea how the game works.

>Only thing that is different about them from the US market ones is that they are RHD and thats not even a plus.

Also they don't sell well because of all of that. Their resale value isn't worth noting because you can get a clean miata for the price you bought a shitty imported one.

If you're worried about repairs, then you'll just have to take it to a dealer.

Friend of mine imported a r32 and the local Nissan dealer pretty much has everything he needs for parts.
>>
>>17640342
S13 Silvia
>>
>>17641429
No, especially since you'll be putting much more strain on it wringing it out to keep up with US traffic.

Anyway owning a car when you're fuckass broke is a losing proposition to begin with. The car being 25 year old jay dee emm just makes it worse. If you really need a car because cheaper modes like bus/bike/motorbike just won't do, get an old Integra or Civic.
>>
>>17642824
This. Finding someone who will properly treat that car if you're not working on it yourself is what makes this proposition miserable.

Civics are a diamond dozen. Anyone paid to turn a wrench has/can/will work on those.

I'm no expert but my impression is that it's an AWD skyline with a not as beefy engine? if the price difference is large enough then I'm just guessing that turning up the boost would give better value than the admittedly overpriced GT-R
>>
save up your hard earned shekels and embrace life as a meme lord and do what you know you should.
>>
>>17642234
>>
>>17645680
I've driven both of them. A standard GTS4 is slow as dog shit and really really not impressive in any way. It's slower than a GTSt and for what? Because you get power to the front wheels under acceleration only, and even then only when it detects wheelspin? No thanks. If I want a quick AWD I'd just go for the GTR (I have the fuse pulled in my GTR right now so), I'd rather just get a GTSt.
>>
>>17640342
Honestly if you're broke, you should just stick with something available in North America, keep in mind you'll need to get JDM parts to do any maintenance, and if you can't work on the car yourself, you're going to need to find a guy to work on it as well. I doubt any of that would be cheap.
