This is why everyone will pay $5000 for the interior upgrade package. No car will actaully sell at the $35K price. They'll all be in the $49K and up range because:

a. 5K interior upgrade
b. 5K driving automation (stay in lane, autocruise, etc)
c. 3K driving automation upgrades
d. Improved battery range upgrade
e. Other upgrades or annual subscription fees

Why do you need to know how fast the engine of an automatic car is spinning?

>>
>>17639197

all you have to do is some basic math to figure out the circumference of the wheel, how many revolutions it goes per minute, and that will give you your answer to how fast the motor is spinning.

because it doesn't have any gears
>>
>>17639208
if you could see all that was going on in your tesla you'd need at least 10 screens. seven for each camera, then three for the gobs of data that they produce. If you opt in, your tesla sends about 4 gigs of data to tesla each month

the S will always have two screens. gotta differentiate the products somehow. However, I'd put money on them rotating the S/X middle screen 90° and using the same screen as the 3 for the upcoming refresh. One common complaint is that the horizontal S/X screen isn't optimal; you have to shift your body to reach the edges. The 3 screen doesn't have that problem
>>
>>17639381
Why can't they just have two screens; one for the dashboard and one for the infotainment? I'm not a fan of having fan/AC controls and hazard lights behind a touch screen with no tactile feedback.

Not even Felix Unger could take care of that snow white interior. I know Tesla Corp selected that color deliberately to force visual recognition of the dash, console, and seats as a canvas for options. But it shows how fugly the $35K car is without buying any of the options.

But selecting white as a color representing a canvas upon which artistry will be worked is too metaphorical for most people. Sure, elitist Tesla owners recognize metaphor. But the Model 3 is meant for non elite people. So perhaps Tesla should have held back on the metaphor.

You'll have more buttons if you pay the upgrade $5000 fee for a better interior. That will add buttons to electrically control your seats so they can move in whatever directions you want. You get better and more coloured materials for the seats, dash, and interior trim.

But everyone will want to pay the upgrade fee for having a bigger battery pack. There is an upgrade fee for the Fast Charge feature too. Do you want that fast accel feature? Do you want pay above that for Ludicrous?

Truth. Pic related.

It really doesn't matter to people at this point. Tesla has gone full meme. They have a meme hippy product with a meme cult following CEO. They are Apple 2.0, except without the profits. They will sell a turd with their logo on it and people will praise it.

It really honestly wasn't even a tough business model to come up with. Liberals wanted to be able to virtue signal, but even the noodle-armed, plaid wearing Starbucks sippers on the left didn't want to drive fagmobiles like the Prius or the Leaf. All Tesla did was design electric cars that look like (on the exterior) actual luxury cars. Then they just meme'd them to all hell and exploited government gibs to stay afloat. Pretty simple tbqh.

>e. Other upgrades or annual subscription fees

Elon Musk is truly a genius, Paid DLC just to drive your car without it being hacked or crashing. I hope he partners with EA for ultimate asshurt.

Like with existing cars, owners had to pay an extra hefty fee to unlock the extra 15% capacity of their batteries. After paying, the company sends a signal to set some permission flags in the software.

What that means is that every one of those tesla car owners purchased the hardware and capacity. But weren't allowed access to it until they paid the extra upgrade fee to unlock the hardware and battery capacity that they had already purchased.

Welcome to the world of tesla Intellectual Property and software encryption. Can you imagine buying a Ford and the company tells you the fee to allow the governor to go above 60MPH costs $100 per year? And the additional fee to go above 70MPH costs $300 per year? And if you wanted Ford Ludicrous Mode (the ability of the computer to allow you to floor the pedal) that would cost another $300 on top of all prior upgrade fees. Welcome to Tesla. Tesla leads the way. Maybe Ford can follow.

>18k rpm redline
>In a Tesla

It's fucking direct drive.

22" diameter wheels x 3.14 = 69.1 inches or 5.75 feet.

18k rpm would mean you're going 103,500 feet per minute, or 19.6 miles per minute.

1176 mph. A tesla at 18k rpm would be doing mach 1.5 in a fucking four door.

The current land speed record is 763 mph in a fucking jet-powered wingless airplane.

Fuck your tach, you'll be shitting your pants too hard to notice what rpm you're at.

The 3 has different battery packs, not just one software-limited pack. Even so, I would rather they be software limited. that way I can save money initially but unlock the extra miles in the future if I ever feel I need them. What's the problem with that?

You ignored that you paid for the product in the first place. It's like going to a restaurant and you buy a steak. They cover up 20% of it and you can eat it only if you pay the extra fee. Nevertheless, you still paid for the entire steak as the restaurant gave you no physical material for free. You paid for it but you aren't allowed to eat it. You paid for it but you aren't allowed to drive that 20%.

When you do pay, tesla doesn't run out to your car to physically add more batteries. That's because you already bought the batteries in the first place.

since I'm a complete retard, why does a plane need this much switches and gauges?

Botnet on wheels

>>17644956
yes, I payed for a limited version. that's why I saved x amount of dollars. Then if I want the feature later, I can pay x + a small premium to unlock it. That is better for the consumer and the company. it simplifies production and allows for upgrade down the road.

Your criticisms of this system have already been discussed to hell and back in the computer processor world, where the same software limiting is done. The fact of the matter is that it not anti-consumer, no matter how you put it
>>
>>17645003
It's not anti-consumer, its just retarded.
>>
>>17639275
Well thats too complicated! With the Tesla® Pad, you can simulate all those gauges dynamically with an atomic accuracy ratio of .001 exactly. All in one spot!

There's a gear reduction between the motor and drive axles dipshit. Also there's tires on the wheels, so even your own retarded "math" is wrong.
