What's your opinion on the 2004-2006 GTO?
>>
>>17633285
easily the best american car of the 00's
>>
>6.0L V8 with independant rear suspension
It's excellent
>>
>>17633285
They have great potential, but are quickly becoming unicorns.
>>
get one with the 6.0
>>
Not bad but too heavy. If its a muscle car meant for straight line acceleration then why bother with a needlessly complicated IRS?
>>
>>17633306
>IRS is complicated
Are you serious?
>>
>>17633300
I am in the process of buying one, I think it's one of the best muscle cars of the 90s-00s
>>
>>17633285
friend bought one in great condition for like 12k with 70k miles... like back seat is more usable than my 5.0, it keeps up pretty well, pretty compfy, i think the leathers a little hard tho, good mpg. only down side is it sure looks like a cobalt.. his words not mine.
>>
>>17633285
Makes for a good sleeper if you don't put an obnoxious exhaust on it. Cops won't be pulling you over for every little thing like they do Mustangs. You'll almost blend in with cars like Toyota Corollas

>>17633306
>If its a muscle car meant for straight line acceleration then why bother with a needlessly complicated IRS?
Because maybe they intended it to have actual handling ability? Muscle cars don't by default have to have ox-cart suspension in order to meet the definition you know.
>>
>>17633330
i know it doesnt usually apply but the myth that live rear axel cant handle bugs me >see boss302

bland as hell
one of those cars you go for when you dont like cars and just like mashing the gas for a few seconds
LS powered so it sounds awful
GM Quality™
>>
>>17633376
no dont buy 5.7
>>
>>17633367
sorry, best "obtainable" american car of the 00s

First year had electrical issues and the 5.7 is weak in this thing. Plus that hood is weirdly not sitting right and needs smog so it's got problems. The ls2 is worth it.

It's got IRS because it's a normal car in Australia, there was even a sedan version. The IRS is a bit of a pain, new bushings is one of the first things most owners do to them.

>Cops won't be pulling you over for every little thing like they do Mustangs. You'll almost blend in with cars like Toyota Corollas

>Own Mustang GT
>Do 120mph in a 55 weekly for a month
>Never pulled over

>Drive borrowed 2000 base Camry
>Go through yellow light
>Cop stops me and gives me a warning for going through a red

Die hard fans know they're Holdens and put badges on them. I don't really like it myself.

There was also a converted Ute there. Company in Colorado called "Left Hand Utes" did the conversion. Can make a Ute out of a G8, Chevy SS, or 2011-17 police Caprice.

people get hung up on the gto name, especially when it came out
>muh legacy
but if you get past that, theyre decent cars with a lot of value per dollar. in stock form, theyre quick but not fast. looks are subjective, i personally like the looks.
some cons: gas tank takes up literally half the trunk space, front seats are electric which means youll have to wait like 15 seconds before you can get enough room to get in the back. PIGFAT. and the spotty issues you may encounter- really random things like electrical gremlins, keyfobs sometimes not working as they should, possibly strut rub, its (un)luck of the draw. another kind of weird thing- parts were expensive when the car was still in production, id imagine theyre even moreso now. fun tidbit- look at the rear quarter panel>>17633420
its a single piece that goes above the windows and around the rear wheel. its one big piece.

if having two seats and maybe more expensive insurance isnt a deal breaker, a corvette would be a better buy IMO. or even a pontiac g8 if you can find one you like
>>
>>17633740
Every modern car panel is like that because of unibody construction
>>
>>17633759
i guess it seems more exaggerated on the gto bc its such a large area
>>
>>17633683
>>17633691
That's funny because a lot people in Australia put Chevy badges on them...

>>17633838
Put they're Pontiacs here lol. Not really a fan of the Holden badge. Looks like African American bling to me, they should've colored it. Golden bowtie or the red Pontiac symbol probably looks more interesting.

The interior is shit and constructed of shit materials. Expect every back seat you encounter to have torn stitching at the very least. I recommend buying a tinted car, because that is known to really help maintain the interior on these.

They aren't the most reliable thing in the world. My mother has a 2006 and in 40,000 miles it has needed a new water pump and radiator.

Generally, they are pretty decent value.

Also, pic related.
>>
i was thinking about getting one a long time ago and did my research. The parts will be hella expensive if you end up breaking shit. thats like the only big con
>>
I really want a VT clubsport or monaro.

im not even a bogan

ghey

I think it's because some have LS motors and people here (Aus) associate LA motors with Chevorlet.
