Which is worse, Tractors, Buses, Cyclists, or Caravans?

Caravans not in the truck lane>>>>>>>>>Cyclists on backroads>>>>>>>>>>>Tractors>Regular cyclists>Buses>regular caravans

>>17618810
Semi trucks to be honest. Too fast to overtake quickly, and so big that it's extremely hard to check for oncoming traffic. Buses aren't quite as big and a whole lot more see-through, caravans are faster, tractors and cyclists are so slow that overtaking is a matter of three seconds.

Tractors pull over to let traffic past (eventually)
Cyclists can be passed without too much difficulty
Buses stop frequently and you can pass them
Caravans are literally the worst
>>
>>17618839
Do you pull boats onto mountains a lot? Yeah? Popular pastime?
>>
>>17618872
Yes? You know water exists above sea level right? Mountain lakes are a thing... You need to cross mountain to get from province to province or state to state. Of course your flatland ass wouldn't know about that.
>>
>>17618868
Semi trucks also have roughly five times higher side area, and that's counting just the box.
>>
>>17618794

> look at the poverty shitboxes we have to drive in europe, i bet this really jiggles your jimbaroos amerilards
>>
>>17618848
It's pretty fun driving the mildly famous road from Idaho to Utah, shitbox is constantly sliding back and forth from the wind. It's quite fun trying to keep my landbarge with bald tires on the road, and I usually have to throw cement bags or something heavy in my trailer if im driving that road, just so its not flipping left and right nearly smacking other cars.

Eurocucks need not apply, from my miata to my lx470 with a trailer its just as terrifying.
>>
>>17618830

What the euro troll doesn't mention is that you are guaranteed to see stranded cars with caravans hitched during the holiday season on every autobahn. Pic related, its what you see in europe.
>>
>>17618794
Doesn't trigger me. I installed a Euro spec tow bar on my Federalized E550. The only problem I have is with trailer loading because they are all designed for 10-15% nose weight. I have a 88 kg limit. US trailers have the axle biased to the rear.

That's just bad and likely illegal loading. There's a fucking reason we put the trailer axle dead center below the trailer load area, so that it's perfectly balanced (plus the drawbar for tongue weight) with an evenly distributed load.

Your trailers are only painted because you're too cheap to even galvanize them. Our steel trailers are galvanized. Aluminium doesn't rust in the first place. Uhaul trailers look almost exactly the same as ours. Because they're galvanized and don't need piss poor corrosion protection in the form of paint.

It has to do with American trailers being loaded with more tongue weight. Because more weight is on the axle, the vehicles have lower ratings than their European equivalents. Americans refuse to move slower than the flow of traffic for any reason, and this setup is more stable at higher speeds.

you don't wanna travel long distances in a tractor
I still don't get the love affair americans have with their pick ups
they use their biweekly grocery haul as a justification for a full sized truck
and then when it comes to real work they stick to it instead of getting the correct tool for the job
it's like they are only allowed to own one vehicle, so they choose a pick up because it can kinda do everything

>>17622550
Depends on the setup. I'm looking at F250 specs right now and it'll tow from 12,400 to 18,600 lbs. Let's say you're using a 24 ft gooseneck that weighs 4,200 lbs empty, meaning you can load between 10 and 18 bales, or just about quarter to half as much as that truck.
>>
>>17618991
Trailers and their wheels are typically hot dip galvanized. It's more effective at preventing rust than paint because not only is it a "self healing" finish, but it also goes inside the box section and bonds to the inside of it. For trailers it's a far superior finish to paint.

We used to haul pic related with a Cadillac sedan. That isn't impressive.

The Starcraft Autumn Ridge 289BHS weighs 6,555 lbs unloaded. So unless you had a Fleetwood with the V4P code tow package for a 7,000 lbs capacity, towing that trailer would've been illegal.

In the trash, immediately. If institutions like the Max Planck Society or Fraunhofer Institute were part of universities, they'd dominate all rankings.

In fact the Max Planck Society alone already dominates all but one American university, despite only doing research, no education.

You'd have to severly overload (a travel trailer doesn't) a consumer pickup to get the same mpg as a semi truck. Pickups with trailers maybe drop into single mpg uphill, but not fucking average. And the difference between 8 mpg and 12 mpg is far bigger than the difference between 18 mpg and 22 mpg. It's a 50% difference. There's absolutely no excuse to tow a 12,000 lbs travel trailer with a fucking semi tractor.

Even that link does not support your argument, Fraunhofer or Max Planck Society with 10,000s of member are getting BTFO by a school with less than a 1,000 researchers and matched by other US schools. Also take a look at patents from schools like MIT and Stanford vs any Yuropoor society to see what a joke European institutions are. Yurope is an intellectual wasteland. People with those big ass tow tractors and huge fifth wheels are retired couples or snowbirds who are on the road 9 months a year. If you're doing that many miles the big truck will be cheaper in the long range once you factor in wear and tear and maintenance. Just because a 3500 is rated to tow 30k lbs doesn't mean you should do it on a regular basis. If you do that'll put serious wear on the truck.

>lets compared a self sufficient country that is the size of Western Yurope with small Yuropean countries dependent on trade
It not question of bad vs good. It is the fact that large parts of a self sufficient economy are dedicated to agriculture, energy production, and primary resource extraction. When a country gets those things via trade it is obviously expended resources elsewhere. Hence is why it makes sense to take the areas in the US with similar trade dependent economies or to just average over the entire EU to get an apples to apples comparison. >Which is worse, Tractors, Buses, Cyclists, or Caravans?

> Tractors
Slow on roads I'd like to go quick on, but not so bed these days. Throws dirt off the tires, sometimes drops shit (literally) out of the trailer and stinks to high heaven. Drivers know they're a pain, and aren't on the road for long, though.
Farmers take no shit from anyone, however, and will happily block dickheads in gernan cars from overtaking,

> Buses
Psychotic entitled assholes that stop in the middle of the fucking road, have legal right to pull out on you, disgorge non-drivers who move slowly and have no traffic sense, and hold up traffic even when they're moving.

> Cyclists
One cyclist is a problem. A peloton is hell to get past, and even worse in traffic, and can take up more room than a truck while moving slower than a tractor.

> Caravans
Morons who can't drive, hauling a huge object that's usually badly loaded. Accidents on motorways, using any lane OTHER than the slow lane on the motorway, cause traffic delays as 55MPH trucks overtake 53MPH 'it says I'm doing 55' caravans, shit up small roads, shit up bigger roads, and generally try to barge me off smaller roads when I'm on two wheels.

From most to least annoying:
> Cyclists (in groups)
> Tractors (with tracks taking up more than the lane and so big I can't see past them)
> Buses
> Cyclists (lycra warriors)
> Caravans
> Cyclists (solo ones that know their place)
> Tractors (every other kind)
> Tractors (steam powered; they TRY and stay out the way, they know they're far too slow, but you can't help but appreciate the coal/steam smells and the steam whistle)

Hardly. At that angle there isn't any lift being generated, and if it is its minimal at best considering how lolford can't design a leaf spring pack that doesn't bottom out under its own weight. You can SEE the Ford's suspension load and actually lower. The VW doesn't even move vertically.

Once again, eurocucks BTFO, and even more embarrassingly, by an ecoboost.
