Hey /o/, I'm about to go all-in picking up an early '90s Lexus SC400 for about $1K. Crazy reliable 1uz, bulletproof everything else sans maybe 1 water pump procedure, great looks, 2+2 grand tourer, buttery smooth, V8, luxury. Can any other car even compete in the $1-2K price range? There are even capable SC400's in the $500-$1K range, too. Unreal!
no comers?

If they didnt need water pumps replaced theyd be a perfect car for 1k.

LS400 is better in every way. Only advantage of the SC is that you can get the 300 in stick
>>17615852
The only problem I have with the SC400 is the automatic transmission, but there are manual conversion kits. Go for it.

the 1uz isnt known for water pump failure
Where can you even find a running car for $1K?
>>17615852
Only downside is it takes premium fuel.
The aristo was better and looked better, especailly the jdm conversion.

All of Europe.

When did /o/ become so concerned with saving every dollar?
>>17617296
>Europe.
Why are their cars so much cheaper?
>>17617344
more cars or less people who want them = less value cars have
I heard that cash for clunkers messed with the used car market in the US too
>>17617344
Cash for clunkers.

OP says the 1k he wants needs a waterpump, and maybe a head gasket. So bare minimum he has to drop the engine
>>17617314
>OP thinks he's going to get a perfect vehicle for $1k

wrecker auctions
they also do contract work for police ( police make arrest, have vehicle towed, owner cant/wont claim vehicle ), then sell at their auction. lots of working trucks (90's to '10's) go for $500-$3k here in dfw

It matters in some areas.
Premium is an extra $1.50 a gallon here, which means it's an extra $32 to fill my tank. I already go through $400 of gas per month in my 27mpg 87oct shitbox, fuck premium.

The government is bleeding us dry.

This. It did a lot of damage to the used car market.
