The SR8-LM is not road legal, it is """""road legal""""" in that they were able to apply for MFG development plates and it's theoretically just a performance trim on the SR4, but 0 SR8LMs have ever been registered by a customer. If you let the oil temp fall under 200 degrees, you have to stop the motor and use an oil heater. It's essentially an LMP1 that everybody winked at, and has never been certified for emissions or road worthiness.

Jeep makes a lot of money on their Jeeps.
Ram makes a lot of money on their trucks.

In order for Dodge or Chrysler to fail the Giant that is FCA would have to go down. that could also potentially effect Hyundai and Mitsubishi who all collaborated with FCA to make engines they could all use to meet emissions and save on development cost under the Global Engine Alliance. FCA is likely never going to sell Chrysler because it would mean throwing a large series of dealer networks they can use to sell Fiats and market share in the US away.
