Anybody have/had one of these? How are parts availability? Engine parts? Easy to find replacement auto transmissions? Parts still being made? Don't see too many left in CA and i think it would make a reliable and interesting DD.
>in CA
Goodluck finding one that hasn't been fucking destroyed by a Mexican.

I've been dailying one for a year now.
The few 2JZ parts I've needed were easy to get. You shouldn't have too much trouble finding a used transmission because of how many idiots wreck these, desu.
Bad news is you get 19 mpg on premium and a Civic Si will put car lengths on you. But this isn't a numbers car, it's a fun, comfy DD that happens to be somewhat quick. And the stock stereo is great, just replace the head unit.

did you have to get parts used? any OEM parts you had to get new but couldn't? kept yours stock or some aftermarket stuff due to availability/price/improvements?
19 mpg is pretty horrific with today's standards, is premium 91? That's the highest available in CA I think.

>Easy to find replacement auto transmissions?
It's a Toyota. Their transmissions aren't known to shit out unlike some **cough** GM **cough**.

haha yeah that's what im noticing on CL

I'm not so sure man, maybe under 100k miles, but a lot of the examples I'm finding are at 150k or more with no service history, puts a little sweat on my forehead for sure.
I've had mine for a month before someone wrecked it.
If I could find another that hasn't been best to shit I would buy another one. I was lucky to find mine owned by a god fearing grandma with only 90k on the dash and completely stock.
Pic related. 7k worth of damage right there. It's hard to live down.

My family has had several Toyotas with 250K plus miles on them with the original transmission.

The only engine parts I needed were spark plugs and gaskets, which I got new. I kept it fully stock. You can get some nice aftermarket suspension stuff for them though, there's a pretty big parts community online.
"Premium" is 93 in Texas. It should run fine on 91.

I had a sonata with 200k miles and the transmission was as healthy as can be
Go fuck yourself for thinking anything over 100k is the end of its life

damn that's rough
