>>17589223
They were obscure even new though, parts support is almost non-existent now. I'd love an RX or XT, but being 30 year old cars, something is gonna break and you're gonna be SOL while you scour parts stores all over the country trying to find what you need for weeks.

Don't they have a flat-6,so perhaps put in a newer Subaru H6 engine when the stock motor dies?
>>17589306
that was an option. they usually had a turbo 4
but i like how you think.
>>17589306
They did have a 6, but it's closer to the EA series than the later 6s, EG or EZ. There's be a lot of fabrication involved, you'd probably need basically everything from the donor car. (engine, transmission, rear diff, front and rear subframes, crossmembers, axles, hubs, brakes, etc). It also might not fit under the hood as they're probably taller than the original 2.7.
The engine's also not the only thing that can break, you have all the other sensors, suspension, brakes, interior, etc to worry about too.
>>17589306
i found a photo of the base engine
nothing great, hot air turbo, super low compression ratio

Passat B4 - the official car of moldavian slavs who transport around diesel from their country and sell it to the neighbouring countries.
I live by the Romanian - Moldavian border and the city is cramped with B4 Passat. All with 100 L tanks, all with the 1.9TDI engine and all with moldavian plates.
>>17589412
My dad's still got his B4, 2.slow 8v. The thing just refuses to die, and will probably fail inspection because of rust long before the engine gives up.
>>17589422

It pays pretty good if you have the connections. And it is one of the few trafficking methods than the Customs can't do anything about.

>>17589481
it's an eighties car, so either most of them are scrapped or owned by enthusiasts who aren't selling.
I only see 30 Sciroccos Gen 1s for sale in germany, that's a pretty small number considering even big JDM cars like Supras and Skylines have like atleast 80 for sale on mobile.de
>>17589470
You sure?
The Kadett had these for cabin air circulation, Im sure its the same for other old cars too. Perhaps even to let air pressure out when closing the door, hatch, etc. Newer cars have vents in the boot, under the rear bumper for example.
>>17589266

Having driven a B7 and ridden in the B4 many many times, I can see where he's coming from. The B4 has more interior space and the ride is surprisingly nice, especially when loaded.
The interior is ergonomically pretty fantastic, if a bit cheap and barebones, and the soft green/teal cluster illumination is very pleasing.

>>17589283
isuzu used to make some good shit - this and the i-mark especially (although the earlier, wedge shaped, giugaro designed impulse turbos with the lotus handling are honestly just unbelievably good)
>>17591040

That's not a base. Base XT had the same N/A EA82 as the Loyale with a solid 97bhp. The turbo was the next step up with 115bhp, then the XT6 with the ER27 that made something like 130bhp. The turbo engines are prone to head gasket failure because lolnointercooler.
EJ swaps are common and companies even make adapter plates to bolt up the old transmission so you don't lose your hi-lo 4WD.
>>17592083
I thought you couldn't get an EJ in the older Elones and Loyales because the cam towers would hit the frame rails.

Holy shit there's an 80's Chevy that I can't remember the name of, it had the same front end as the Citation but it was a 2 door, there was an ad for and the car was silver/black. It looked pretty sweet and I've never seen them before.

There's a dude near me selling an '80 Toyota Crown for $2,500.
Seems like a steep asking price considering it doesn't even have the OEM hubcaps.

MY dad has one of these, he bring it up every time we talk about cars. I used to hate it but after hearing him talking about it, but I kept getting more and more interested.
Interesting little cars, he doesn't have any photos though.

I went to morocco once and these and 80's mercedes are what everyone drives as well as renault 14's, everyone treats them as the normie shitboxes over there, I wish I could export one because most of them were still in great condition

What's better, this or a Fleetwood?
Such a nice-looking piece of shit. If Fiat knew how to make engines worth a shit then it would be a lot more fondly remembered than it is now.
