Why are American cars so shit?

A guy in my town has a geo metro that he dropped on top of a samurai awd frame, pretty fucking cool
>>17584896
That thing probably has no torque
you see that kind of shit all the time around my town. It's a big mudding place. I can't count how many el caminos I see like this. A guy down the street from me has an old packard lead sled up on tractor tires like this.
It's obviously just the body bolted to a truck frame with rockwell axles or whatever.
>>17584974
I assume you mean engine torque, which is meaningless since gears exist
>>17585027
>tractor wheels
Obviously talking about wheel torque
>>17584974
Looks like it's on a tractor frame. It probably makes nothing but torque.
>>17585032
>Obviously talking about wheel torque
which can be (and probably has been) fixed with a higher gear ratio
>>17585027
You got a gear lower than 4-low/first? Neat.
>>17585039
Yeah...creeper gear would be lower....
>>17585037
>fixing torque with a higher gear ratio
jesus fucking summer
>>17585042
yes, that is what gears are for.
>>17585042
Most tractor engines are like 30-40 hp and maybe 2x that in torque...but they still pound out hundreds and hundreds of ft/lbs at the wheels because of the miracle of gear ratios.
>>17585046
Look, Archimedes it's LOWER gear ratios that increase torque and engines aren't perfect machines they have these things called redlines.
>>17585077
40:1 is higher than 10:1
>>17585065
You're right that Metro on an S10 frame probably has a tractor engine in it. It's obviously farm machinery.
>>17585092
That is not an S10 frame. Look how thick it is.
>>17585092
he was talking about a tractor engine as an example to show how an engine with little torque can be used in a high torque application using gears.
Off-roading is another application that requires loads of torque.
Do you have trouble with social situations?
They hate direct injection.
