Has any seen or heard of someone putting a regenerative brake on their car? Would doing so be a worthwhile mod to increase brake life and performance (could also be used to temporarily increase torque and improve braking)?

As in, putting a secondary electric drivetrain into your car and recharging the batteries under braking? Good luck making that work.
