Does anyone know how much I can expect to pay on top of the car's FOB to be able to legally get it to here and drive it on the roads? I know about VAT and duty, but are there any other costs that need taking into consideration? How much would going through an import company like Torque GT add to the overall cost? Is it worth it to save the risk and hassle of doing it yourself? Pic unrelated

Make sure if you do it yourself, you have an understanding of the extra fee's you need to pay.
Import fee, shipping cost, registration costs, etc. I think Torque GT cover's them, others might not?
What car you thinking of buying? I've been tempted to use them before, but not done so.

I was looking at an S13 Q's Coupe (maybe a K's if I can find one for cheap enough)... so we're talking about £1000-1500 worth of car if bought at auction (or about double that for the K's) , although I'm not 100% about how accurate those prices are. I've just heard horror stories about people who haven't gone through importers like Torque GT. I'm under the impression it would be roughly £4k to get a Q's here and driving on the road.
Hijacking this thread, insurance on imported cars is more than their UKDM equivalents. Is there any rule of thumb for how much more, like some %?

I had a JDM Honda Jazz for a while, picked it up cheap bc noone wanted to touch it as it was a grey import, insurance had no problem with it as I explained what it was.
You will probably find it's different for a Silvia or whatever if it wasn't sold here new
