Yeah she's the 04 DX, I'm gonna replace it with another DX if I see one affordable, but getting like Papa Johns Anon with the LX doesn't sound bad.

I just thought she'd outlast my grandmother herself, such a bummer.
>>
>>17568596
That's a damn shame, but she had a good life. Those cars are literally everywhere so I guess that kills the overall value of it. I swear I see one or two on every single delivery drive.

Any other Hondas in mind? Maybe find a sweet manual model?
>>
>>17568701
This sounds fucking stupid but I was perfectly happy with what I had, midsize with a K24 it was more than I could ask for to be given as a first car.

I fuckin cried randomly for like two days after the accident, it was the only thing that made me happy after work.
>>
>>17568732
Yeah I loved my Civic sedan too and was super depressed when it broke. Though I am happy that it's alive again and being my good friend's daily. It has a bright future with him. Probably getting a manual swap and a real good SOHC ZC in the future.

I don't know what I'd do if something happened to my hatch. I have some weird autistic connection to it. I'm sure I'd be feeling similar to when my dog died last month. Many tears.
>>
>>17568749
You will cry like a bitch if something happens to that hatch, I am just praying the insurance gives me enough to get a CM, i don't want to downgrade to a sohc Civic or Fit, and CM5s with low miles and service records are like $5000.

That's a pretty good deal. I think 7th gen Civic Si and RSX are both in that price range and also have the based K series.

for an accord that's not surprising in my state. my friend had an 81 accord that insurance covered a 3300$ repair on then covered a 2000$ repair later on it. then the radiator gave out and the engine managed to catch fire somehow. his dad wants to repair it and give it to his younger brother.
point is accords are and should be easy sell like Camrys thus insurance is willing to put money down for repairs on it.

I don't understand your American car insurance system.

1. Why is it being quoted at such a high rate when realistically it shouldn't cost that much to fix?
2. What happens to a 'totaled' car in this scenario? Are you still the full owner of the vehicle or does the insurance company take over?
>>
>>17571474
They'll take possession of it, and give me what the car was worth at the time of loss, based on year and mileage.

An EL is just a better looking Civic, until 2001 hit and they switched.

If you can find a '97 Civ' for less and in better condition, get that. They are exactly the same, I think.

I think I've got everything lined up, but I just gotta check again.

Will any ECM from a manual, 2001-2003 Coupe, non VTEC civic work, after a reflash, in any other civic of the same type, or do I need to chase down the specific numbers?
Also, how can I tell if the ECM is blown without taking it down to the dealership?
>>
>>17573695
Probably not an ECM failure. Whats your symptoms?
>>
>>17573721
Whether or not it's ECM failure is out of the question, I think, shit's busted. Full on limp mode, most electronics in the car don't work and it won't rev past 2000. At least, I think it's up to 2000. I wouldn't know, the tach doesn't work. Ive read it's a common problem for them, as the alternator jumps gap or whatever if the mount isn't tight, frying the ECM. I've checked most of the sensors, they're all good.
>>
>>17573595
Too late I ordered it early this morning. Not a bad deal really. The one lock that works (driver's door) is feeling a bit iffy from all the use and that set is all brand new. Ignition cylinder is a bit loose feeling, too. It'll be nice to have fresh hardware.

>>
>>17575993

For a good while I was thinking about boosting my D15 engine but I don't think it would be worth it in the long run.

Are turbos really that unreliable? I wouldn't need it to run at 20psi or anything. I'd be okay with around 10 - 14psi if it means I can get more reliability.
>>
>>17576235
It's not the turbo that's unreliable, but the turbo builds without a strong bottom end that can take boost.
>>
>>17576264
Oh right, that makes sense. Might just try to get a B16 engine instead or just wait until I can buy a DC5 Integra.

my main reasons are: easier to work on, easier on gas (takes 87), it makes 300hp and weighs 3533 lbs, 40% less on insurance for me than the GT, less initial cost as I got it for 24k out the door with free year maintenance, and I'm tired of fixing whatever the previous owner did or rigged.

Im ok with paying a bit extra for the mugen parts as they are often nicer looking than oem without being so over the top it turns the car stupid, plus its all period correct
I guess im just being autistic about the fact i wont have a part I could have bought

You don't say. I was asking myself "why are they trying to sell here ? Smartphones ?", my wife was just laughing her ass off because of how retarded those actors look and sound...

I'm not too happy, the used Type-S I bought last sunday is having trouble, the driver side mirror isn't folding completely any longer. Apparently it's because of a faulty relay (part number :76209-smg-e01). Some german on ebay is listing this for 60€ and an english site sell them for 45€. I'm not gonna buy a fucking relay that price ffs.
Do anyone in Yurop knows where to find those sort of parts for a non-outrageous sum ?

Check for uses ones or generic ones of that type. Maybe even junkyard if you can find out what other Hondas use that relay.

Blog posting for a quick sec

Did a bit to the Civ' today, mainly the seatbelt and the door sag.

The seatbelt wasn't working, the buckle wouldn't hold the thing and shit was bad. Took out the seat, and found a lot of rusty interior bolts. Got nervous and checked the entire floor for rust, and it's solid. After getting the seat out and scratching the interior, I high-tailed it to the junkyard and got one, and a cool Sparco seatbelt pad for free. I think I'm a regular there now.

Got it all installed pretty uneventfully. Vacuumed the inside since I had the chance, and it's looking real purdy in there now.

The door hinges were designed and installed by some son of a bitch who forgot the war fucking ended, fucking bastard. Busted knuckles on the way out, pain aligning it all, and more busted knuckles on the way back in. Whoever designed the EM-2 Civic needs to be hung from his own dick.

Also got an ECM, and while it won't start with it in, it sounds much healthier turning over. (VirrrrurrrrrurrrrrurrrrrrBRUMBUMBUMBUMBUMB vs vURURURURURURURURURURURURU)

Nice wheels. How's it been so far? Lots of miles?
>>
>>17584933
No real complaints.
Just over 9k miles. I live maybe 5 miles from work, so I only have to fill up once a month. Probably 5k miles have from trips from GA up to IN and back, since I moved down to GA for a job last year, and have gone back to visit a few times.
I can get 45+ mpg on the highway if I keep it under 80, and 39-41 if I go above 80 mph. Around town I only ever get ~30 mpg and below because of my short trips and traffic though.
My cars prior to this were an '04 Cavalier with 194k miles, a '98 saturn something, and a '93(?) Geo Prizm, so it's a huge step up for me in terms of features, and the low end torque is great.
Some lingering concerns regarding reliability, with it being the first year of a new model generation, and the turbo engine w/ cvt, but I think that's more paranoia than truly justifiable worries.
tl;dr: I like it.
>>
>>17584999
That's some damn good MPG. It should be pretty reliable if you keep up with the CVT fluid changes.

Just need to get the muffler flange rewelded, then I can take it in to be inspected, and worse comes to worse, I get a rejection sticker that lets me drive around to get the windshield and tires put on. Then it's a gaurenteed pass. It's register and insured now, too.

what you should really consider is getting a muffler online that fits the specs of the place you want it fitted, take it into a muffler shop and they'll install it for you on the cheap and it often looks and is better than most of the bolt-on single-tips out there

Good news is I finally swapped my headlights for projectors. She looks so happy to be alive.

Bad news is some Nigger damaged my rims while I was at work, and am gonna bondo and dip until I have some extra money set aside. Would matte white dip be cool, or maybe 2 coats of gold, to give it more of a pearl look.

Think I finally got the vtec problem figured out. started acting up again last friday and went an entire week without getting the code to go away. went and picked up a replacement switch from autozone to give that a try, ended up being the wrong part entirely. however, when I took the old switch out, I noticed a bunch of oil/gunk on the connections. cleaned everything up with a toofbrush and it immediately solved the problem. hopefully it all holds up.

You're gonna want to get a full trailing arm kit from another EK that had rear discs. That's the best way to go about it. Might be compatible with Integras too but that might just be an EG thing.

Every time it rains significantly I have to get water out of the side of my trunk. Water runs down the car and lands on top of the trunk vents and goes around them into the trunk.
This is only possible because of the hit and run damage that pushed part of the body panel in.

Thankfully it doesn't seem to be doing any damage and there hasn't been any mold growing.

My friend suggests putting a V8 or something in my car, maybe grab an LS block... Or a 1JZ block. The problem is, it's great seeing slow progress even if I intend to build a monster. It's gonna happen bit by bit but I'm interested in building an engine. Maybe for drift, not a Honda? Hmm, even the i6 engines work well...
>>
>>17592325

Not quite the evidence you're looking for, but my roommate spent about 7k converting his crx auto to manual with a B18c.

The firewall is actually weaker on the auto versions, and the manual pedal assemblies don't hold up well to cable clutches (at least with the itr Tyranny). He went through 4 pedal assemblies lol.

Really depends on how much work you will do yourself.

Time for a rant boyos.

>walk into Firestone, ask for an alignment on the 94 Civic I have liftetime alignment for
>"i dont see lifetime on this car"
>wtf they said they fixed that a long time ago, i paid for both the 93 and 94 and they put it on the 93 twice
>that receipt is long gone but I have bank transactions
>"sorry sir that will only tell me you spent money here and not on what"
>so I paid over $400 for lifetime alignment on one car, great
>leave

The guy that fucked it up is long gone so I'm pretty much done with Firestone. I'm probably better off going to an actual tuning shop to get alignments that know how to work with aftermarket suspension bits and can tune the suspension with it.

Normie garages a shit.

Tech probably didn't write the VIN on the ticket or the advisor didn't type it in the system when it was done. It happens frequently with new staff.
>>
>>17595441
Yeah it's kind annoying but I'm sure if I'm persistent enough I can get it solved. I'll worry about it later. I went through my bank transaction history and I have three with them.

>first lifetime alignment purchase for the 93 Civic
>set of tires for the 93
>second lifetime alignment purchase for the 94 that they stacked on the 93 instead

It rides pretty straight anyway I just wanted to get my steering wheel adjusted slightly. I'm more worried about getting my AC working, though.

Out of curiosity, I asked the parts department how much they would charge for fog lights and installation.

>>17598103
Insurance is gonna be high on both. Insurance companies look at car model, your age, sex, doors, displacement, and the frequency in which cars are in accidents, among other things. As a guess, I'd say the RSX would be higher, but if I was buying either, I'd still go with the RSX. It's smaller, and has a better engine (type S).

Accord Coupe is really only worth it if you have the V6, otherwise you're better off with the sedan (or a V6 sedan)

Drove 128 miles home and it drove great, will take a better photo of it for the collage, but the new CM5 is home.

The good
>Engine and trans are perfect
>Starter motor is healthy and fast
>Ac works
>Front clip and doors are all original panels
>Alignment is perfect
>Rotors not warped and vibrating
>No lights on dash
The bad
>Driver side lock cylinder is stuck like the old CM but the passenger works fine so they took off $100
>Ignition cylinder and doors/trunk have different keys because chronic CM ignition cylinder failure
>Radio won't play they took off $100
All in all, it's a CM5 with some issues like my old one but a cleaner body and the starter works.
