why no more solid axle /o/
>>17555556
because being able to turn is good
Ride comfort. SUVs are already a fucking joke now, trucks have somehow mostly survived. Wrangler is one of the last off-road heroes from the factory. Purely talking usdm.
not needed. there's still some with solid rear axles if that makes you feel better
F350s have solid front axles

Muh salad axle
>>17555556
Because no one sells them anymore.
Besides Jeep.
Fuck Jeep.
>>17555556
Most companies are trying to sell vehicles for normies. They don't need off road capabilities, and so the solid axle was scraped.
There are still plenty of cool, old trucks with solid axle.

The old FJ was only successful because they copied Jeep. That's why the modern FJ Cruiser was a failure.
>>17556541
The FJ Cruiser was only made for the US market and is not a real Land Cruiser.
The only solid axle truck you can currently buy in the US is the Jeep Wrangler, or work trucks.
They still sell 79 series LCs like pic related in Aussieland brand new.

Well for the rest of the world the "real" Land Cruiser is the J200.
It costs $85,000, weighs 6,000lbs, and isn't as off-road capable as a base-model Wrangler.

They still sell and support brand new 2017 FJ79s in Australia though.
They even receive updates, they even updated the frame to a more modernized design. And they are planning to keep selling these trucks into the future.

But what about LHD?
>>17556760
They sell them in Canada and various other countries around the world.

A solid axle by itself doesn't improve off-road capabilities, in fact, it reduces road clearance. It's just sturdier and simpler to repair than independent suspension.

Long travel ifs is superior but for the same amount of money solid is much stronger with less possible failure points.
