Should I try to get a honda civic or a toyota corolla for my first car?
I've got $10k saved up to spend, will I be able to get something of decent quality that will last if I take care of it?
Miata :D
Yeah for 10k you can get a barely used corolla or civic both are perfect first car

Just get a civic for 3k and save the rest for the occasional repair.

MIATA EVERYTIME
>not getting something rare you can just about afford that you can brag about the struggle of owning a cool ass whip (NOT a miata) as your first car for the rest of your life

I'd say their resale value is too high to be great deals. Go one tier down in reliability, which puts you in the realm of Mazda3s (ideally Skyactiv, otherwise mileage sucks). The Nissan Sentra fits into this category too, but recent ones have felt so cheap I can't really recommend them. Maybe higher trim models are decent, dunno.

Op ask for normal car he can drive for many years. All these dumb fucks saying Miata and some shit box civics.
I think you can get clean 2010 and up models. Try to go for highest trim for max comfy.
you in the states?
10k will get you a cheap and reliable daily plus an awesome toy car easily. pick up a 90-something-corolla for pennies and throw 9k at something fun.
