Hey /o/
I noticed the diff cover on my 84 C1500 had an impact at the bottom and was dripping during a weekend trip. I decided to take the diff cover off and change the fluid and noticed the breather was missing. Does this fluid look okay? Also, as a bonus, can anyone help me identify this axle? I don't think its a Dana axle but that would just be my uneducated guess.
I fear water has entered the differential through the missing breather
The fluid does lookreally thin. Re grease it and get yourself a breather

the guys I bought this truck from were the kind of people who take perfectly good mufflers off a truck to get that straight pipe sound. I can't even hear the fucking radio for fucks sake. The mechanic I took the truck to said the engine was in good shape though so it was worth it.
If it aint making noises its fine. Just clean it and put new oil, water always gets in rear ends, just a bit less with breather tubes for obvious reasons. If its not making noises its good. As far as can see i counted 10 bolt holes for the cover so looks like a gm 10 bolt. 8.5. Or so i think.

Take that back might be a different diameter you have to see which one you have. Ik for sure its a gm 10 bolt. But not 100% on size 8.2 / 7.5/or 8.5.

well it managed to haul a four thousand lb trailer from MD to VA no problem. It was leaking due to the clipped cover, I planned on hammering out the diff cover and taking care of everything else while I was down there.
