hello /o/, lurker here looking for some quick advice if anyone has dealt with a similar situation.
the other day I was driving home from work and to make a long story short, i ended up clipping this guys car with my mirror at a measly 5mph while trying to get onto a right lane as he was making space for me but then abruptly stopped. my mirror folded itself as i drove past and the dude jumps out of the car taking pictures of my license plate. he comes up to my passenger window and i roll it down and i tell him to pull over to the side. the guy just looks at me with this stupid face and some hand gestures and i tell him again just pull over to the side. at this point he's behind me and when the light turns green, i make a right turn into the CVS lot and he instead decides to drive off. i get out of the car to see if anything actually happened and there isn't even a transfer of paint (car mirror has that rubber portion underneath).
fast forward a few days and i get a mass amount of tickets from that city's police department for
>careless driving
>leaving scenes of an accident
>traffic on marked lanes (???? it was clearly a two lanes)
>failure to wear seatbelt (??? lol)
>following too closely (wasn't even following)
>failure to possess drivers license (again, LOL)
>failure to possess registration and insurance (just lol)
and now i have a court date. what are my options here without resorting to lawyering up and wasting my time. its crazy that some sore loser went through the effort to do this.

Lawyer up and waste your time. Don't get legal advice on the internet, seriously.
Otherwise, remain calm, tell your story and never argue.
