I'm stumped. My 1994 Jeep Wrangler Model S is overheating. I changed the radiator, thermostat, flushed the system and now I'm about to change out the water pump to see if that helps any. What else can I do to get the cooling system working?
Could be a blown headgasket. How often are you needing to refill the coolant? Is the coolant boiling?

I haven't had to refill at all, but I'll look into the head gasket.

>I haven't had to refill at all
Then it's not the HG.
Is it the 4 banger or the 6? The S had both as options for that year.
Replace the water pump
Make sure the Tstat isn't backwards. Plunger side should be facing into the engine.

4 banger. I've replaced the water pump just now, waiting for the gasket maker to cure.

Is the long fan shroud still in place?
If not you will forever have overheat issues at low speed & high ambient temp.

Fan shrowd is there and fan clutch was recently replaced and fan is on correctly.
Water pump replaced, still getting Uber hot. So a broken cylinder gasket can cause this?
Your Catalytic Converter might be stopped up. Might as well cut that cock-sucker off anyways.
Is your temp sensor reading correctly? are you sure this is a cooling system issue and not electrical?

That's also a possibility. So, next time I have time, I'll look into the gauge, then the catalytic converter and so on. This Heep is truly a bitch.
My V8 ZJ gets hot pretty fast if sitting still on a hot day especially with the AC on but I always just assumed the cooling is fundamentally inadequate. Thought about putting in electric radiator fans? Supposed to improve MPGs too?

THIS.
My dad's dune rig bronco suffered chronic overheating issues. I drove it and watched the temperature climb and drop and climb and drop.
Temp sending unit was bad. Never was overheating in the first place. Seeing that needle pegged sure is unsettling, though.
