Why does BMW, Mercedes, and Audi make police cars but Cadillac and Lincoln don't?
>>
None of those make police vehicles as far as I know.

Its usually just a third-party conversion of a standard car
>>
Police cars need to be fast and reliable, americans can't into either.

Why do Europeans hate department markings? Do they feel the need to hide the identity of their police out of some misplaced nostalgia for the gestapo?
>>
>>17533982
>department markings?
what
>>
>>17533982
Literally what fucking difference does it make what department a police cruiser comes from? They're all run the same way.

On the contrary: What's the fucking point of making every county police and state police and town police and mall police and college police look different? Who the fuck is supposed to remember the thousands of different markings in your clusterfuck of a country? How are you supposed to tell actual cops from powerless mall cops or from plain frauds?
>>
>>17534006
Because the mall police car will say mall police?
>>
>>17534006
I think what the american means is that there are no marks on the car naming what city it "belongs".

>>17533982
>>17534015

Can't speak for germany because they got a federal clusterfuck system, but in Europe most countries police forces are centrally controlled by the national government, it is highly unusual to have a police department for a partiular city or a particular "county" there is no county or city police, there's just police. You may have highway patrol which would be a separate department in that centrally controlled police governing body.

>>17534015
Not on the front when they pull up behind you.

check the license plate, it states which city and if you look really close below the TÜV-Plakette you can see the state
>>
>>17534060
Actually the license plate only states the general police administrative district. For example in my relatively empty, medium sized state all police cars carry the same district code (LSA for Land (state) Sachsen-Anhalt) because it all belongs to the same police head administration. Other states may have multiple police districts. The pictured car is from the Regensburg police district which likely is larger than just the district of Regensburg itself.

Well, I only know a hand full of Police departments, they are all relatively big so they had their city on the license plate
thought this applied everywhere

>>
>>17533948
BMW does their own conversions? Thats kinda cool - and weird, as I am now wondering why our government is paying extra for third-party conversions (we're replacing our VW Passats and others with BMW 5-series from now on) when BMW can apparently do their own... maybe different needs/regulations
>>
>>17534124
actually what's the difference between the normal police car and the ones with the yellow extra markings? I always wonder
>>
>>17534148
Nothing, the neon markings are just a recent addition. Older models may still drive around without them until they're retired, or one state may be quicker to adopt the neon markings than another. So basically extra neon markings = newer car.
>>
>>17534098

Actually it is much better, because thanks to the clear markings I immediately know that I'm speaking with a City of Milford police officer, rather than a county sheriff, state trooper, federal agent, etc. etc.

Not our fault that you have a million layers of police jurisdictions. Here we just have THE police.

if they stop your ugly ass for some law breaking
what does it matter?
what kind of third world country are you?

Cadillac dont have any interesting car for police aside the ct6 and for Lincoln the departments wont waste money on a premium car when they can just get a taurus.

Some cities have their name on a car.
But why does it matter? A cop is a cop.
If you make them universal, you can use them everywhere, in case some places have too many broken ones for instance.

Now this cop car can only be used in Delft, which is stupid as Delft has tiny streets.
>>
>>17533982
They have such tiny inadequate countries the police are all run by the state.
>>
>>17535283
Locally controlled police departments are a cancer in the USA, I have yet to see such blatantly corrupt organizations in Europe. You can keep your beloved "local police force".
>>

Why can't American cars be good again?

Lincoln = Ford with leather
Cadillac = Chebby with leather

FTFY
>>
>>17533854
Because US police departments need to save their money so they can buy retired military Armored Personnel Carriers, and get new fleet of squad cars every year and other shit they don't need.
