Looking at getting a vehicle with a bit more utility than my honda civic, gets me from point a to point b but i was wanting a second, something more, it would be nice to be able to do some light offroading, going through some of the more iffy dirt roads and shit, driving to campsites, from what i hear they are pretty nice and reliable, hard to break but easy to fix with a nice aftermarket, and it isnt fuckhuge
was thinking either this or a Jeep cherokee XJ
my budget is about 2k, and im american .mil in germany for reference, any particulars? do they really flip and kill as easy as that one report that ruined their reputation says? how hard and pricy would it be to get a roll cage installed?
I'd get a Sidekick / Tracker over a Samurai. It's objectively better in most regards as far as fuel economy and safety goes.

was it about the rollover thing? cause i cant find any other safety issues reported about it than the thing CU posted in the 80's, that they themselves even went back on

A tracker or sidekick is still a deathtrap. It's basically a 2200lb lifted shopping cart.

A Samurai will get around 30 mpg and the safety rollover is a myth. I'd recommend the Samurai if you were doing more offroading but for a daily the sidekick/track would be the better choice mainly bc the sammy will struggle to get up to 60 mph

Might want to check local prices before you get to interested in anything mentioned so far.
They all have insane rice tax out here in rural U.S.
Might have better luck on a bronco II or S10 based Chevy blazer/GMC jimmy
