I've been a really reckless driver, escaping death by a hairs width many times, but once I did have an accident (rear ended by some guy in Audi), I was deathly afraid of getting into a car. More so even at revving of engine. Don't worry you just understood the implications of the forces that it brings because they actually are scary and we are ignorant.
It took me 3 months to step into a car and drive like a pussy, 6 to get fully accustomed to it and a year to go hooning like a madman again. Just give it time, its a psychological wound that heals like any other. Slowly, and with time.
