I'm so glad I switched to 12 volt. It originally was 6 volt with a generator, the headlights got brighter the faster you drove lol.

32 isn't bad, about the same as the GTI, FiST, FoST and equivalent Minis, but I agree it could really use a sixth for highway cruising. 5 is a little old school for 2017. The newer models come with a 6 speed auto as optional, so I think it, like the engine, is evidence of Fiat playing it safe with tech they know is reliable rather than experimenting.

All part of the madness. It's one of the most nonsensical little cars you can get, but like you said it's a thrilling barstool on wheels because of it.

Talking about the european 595 Abarth, we have different trims with different power outputs (in the Usa you have 1 choice with 160 hp and that's it).

The current gen lowest power is 145 hp while the highest power is 180 hp (190 if it's the 695 biposto).

If the turbo and the intercooler are the same on every trim you can safely upgrade the power from 145 to 180 without risks, otherwise you have to upgrade the intercooler/turbo to be the same of the ones found in the most powerful model.

Apart from that, the engine is bulletproof and with a reasonable expense it can be pushed up to 300 hp while being still extremely realiable.

Personally I won't go > 200 hp because it'll be non sense on this tiny car.

With a well done ecu tuning done by professionals you can expect from +16 to +23 hp and +40 to +80 nm depending on the engine and euro pollution grade.

All of this with the car mantaining the stock intercooler and turbo.

Well for one the engine bay is absolutely tiny, and fitting anything larger in is difficult which means a lot of mods mean shuffling around things to fit better than they did from the factory. For another thing, you are right about it being a good tuner. Fiat created a very nice little engine and left a lot of room (figuratively speaking) for performance improvements.
