Why are there so few mid-engine American sports cars?
Why doesn't GM bring back the Fiero or Corvair for the modern age? Theres a pretty big potential market for Mid-Engine Americans but nobody seems to want to fill the gap. A non-gimped modern Fiero would be cool though

As of now most of that market is European, as far as I remember Japan has 2 or 3 right now, and the US has 1. Meanwhile euros have a mountain of them
>>17492413
Because that would be a risk and GM doesn't take risks anymore.
>Why are there so few mid-engine American sports cars?
>>17492413
Because the Fiero would probably steal a lot of Corvette sales and GM wouldn't have that.

Isn't the next Corvette rumoured to be MR to compete with the Ford GT?
>>17492651
lol thats just a holden ute mate
>American sports cars

the rear engine configuration doesn't make sense. It takes everything bad about the FWD setup and combines it with everything bad from a RWD setup and amplifies the badness by 10.
a longitudinal mid engine'd car is what you want, not any of this reverse FWD retardation

It is, but it's the test mule they were using for the Mid engined Vette apparently.
Here's a more recent pic.

>more interior space than MR
>easier to access engine than MR
>better brake load distribution than MR
>easier to achieve 4WD than MR
Mot every car needs to be a lotus elise m8
You yanks really missed out
>>17492413
Better question, how come NO ONE makes 30kish mid engine cars anymore? Yea I know you can go buy a sw20 or aw11 or boxster or cayman for cheap but I'm saying a brand new one for 30-40k. Hell maybe even cheaper, just make it ridiculously light and fun like the Mr-s. Just give me that intake noise right behind my ear and modern equipment and not having to deal with previous owners bullshit.

rear engined cars steer with the rear wheels do they? (fucking retard)
>>17493046
>nitpicking
>>17493002
Reminder that horacio pagani was involved in the making of this car
>>17493038
Because they didn't sell well enough. Simple as that.
And GM killed the Fiero because the V6 Prototype was faster than the Corvette. And they couldn't have Pontiac making a better car than the Corvette.
>>17493038
Just buy a used Cayman S
Do they still build the Rossion Q1? I know it's just a facelifted Noble, but it's better than nothing.
