Hey /o/, I'm considering buying a Lexus LS 430 or 400.
What should my upper limit for mileage be? I need to keep it for around three years, and I'd like it to be as reliable as possible.
Also, does either the 400 or the 430 have some significant advantage over the other?
Any good info on either would be appreciated

500,000

Interference engine, do timing belt asap.

The early 400 is non-interference.

Park these in the garage if you live in a poor neighborhood or parts will get stolen.

awesome, thanks for the info
I know nothing about them other than the latest one looks really nice.

Just buy based on how well the precious owners maintained the car. While they are probably more reliable than a camry, they are old and the well looked after cars will be better. Don't forget timin belt every 100k or 10 yrs
The 430 is a nicer car. I have an 04. The youngest 400 is 18 years old. Let that sink in.

17 technically.. but yeah, they're getting old. I still am in love with my 1998 LS400 though, best car ever.

Just don't fall for the
>Indestructable
meme. They're reliable cars (if they've been maintained well) but electronic stuff fails/goes weird all the time and you will still need to replace parts relatively often.

It's like tailfins on the back of every car from the 50s...
