Aside from engine, suspension, performance maintenance, we don't really have threads about superficial car care. Stuff like good/easy soaps/waxes/clay bars/fresheners(besides black ice)/or trunk storage things. What does /o/ use?

We used to have /cwg/ car wash generals all the time there big on clay bar and wax and not using drive in car washes
>>
>>17482466
I think I remember those. Might be were I first found out about clay bars actually.

My type of thread!

>Wheels
Autosmart Smart Wheels for both wheels and tyres diluted about 10:1
Poorboys Wheel Sealant
Chemical Guys VRP for tyres
Soft Vikan Brush for cleaning

>Wash
Cheap snowfoam that's made locally (smells like fruity sweets) through a mesto foamer. Don't really bother with a snow foam lance.
Meguiars Gold Class for an intense wash, Chemical Guys Mr Pink for a light wash
Autoglym Aquawax as a drying aid if I'm not doing a full wax
Rain-X Glass Cleaner

>Polishing
Bilt Hamber Clay Bar, diluted snow foam as a lube
Scholl Concepts S20 on a green Hex Logic polishing pad

>Protecting
Meguiars Paint Protect sealant on a black finishing pad
DodoJuice Banana Armour wax applied by hand
Chemical Guys VRP for any trim

>Interior
AutoGlym Interior Cleaner/Leather Cleaner
Chemical Guys New Car Smell (doesn't smell like a new car but it smells very clean)

I don't use everything every time I wash the car but that's my main list. I'm thinking of changing from a clay bar to a clay mitt, the car never gets too much contamination and the clay mitt is much easier.

Out of everything I've listed I'd recommend the Poorboys wheel sealant, Meguiars Paint Protect and AutoGlym Aquawax. The last one might be difficult to get in the US, but Chemical Guys P40 is basically the same product.

Great post m8, thanks for the recs

What do you rec for oxidized and faded black plastic trim? Is the heat gun method necessary if you want the improvement to last?
>>
Anyone pay to have their car detailed? How do you pick a good detailer? Also, best car vacuum?
>>
Anyone bought a steam cleaner or pressure washer? Any recs?

I would actually check out the prices at a dealership. For $200 the dealership made my car showroom quality. Not only did they do a great job, but the next closest detail at that level was around $400. I've since then moved on to detailing my own vehicle, but I'm still surprised at just how good of a job the dealership did. Usually they are nothing but a rip off in everything.

I've got a Karcher basic pressure washer. It's really useful but it is also enjoyable to use. Makes rinsing easier and on dark cars it's a must to remove as much dirt as possible before washing.
Thinking about buying a Karcher steam cleaner for doing interior stuff. I'll probably need a shop vac as well to suck the moisture out.

Anyone got any recommendations for seat and carpet cleaners? Got some manky stains

I use a mothers clay bar from walmart and the same brand of wax. I just bought nufinish and polish because my friend really likes it. Im hoping it wont mess anything up because im putting it on my expensive car

A good canister style vacuum will come in handy. Find one with a long and flexible hose to get those hard to reach areas. Or just find a hose for your regular vacuum if you feel it has enough power. Use to use my gramp's old 60s hoover and it worked fine. Pic is an example.

I've used VRP on faded black trim and it's made a big difference...for a few days. A few coats within a week might do the trick. I've heard great things about Aerospace 303 on black trim, never tried it but many people swear by it.

I highly suggest getting a snowfoam lance. It'll remove even more dirt and soften any stubborn dirt. I use a handheld snowfoam sprayer as it means I don't have to hook up the pressure washer every time I wash the car, but if you use a pressure washer anyway a proper snowfoam lance will help.

NuFinish is a bit misleading as it's a sealant, not a polish. I'm assuming the polished effects are from fillers which mask fine scratches or swirls. In short it won't damage your car, but I've read it'll stain trim so wipe off any excess product from trim as soon as you see it. Apply it before you apply your wax, but give the NuFinish time to cure. Most people would recommend 24 hours between sealant and wax, but an hour or so is fine.

What type of car do you have?
