if you play sims like iracing where everybody is running the same track and car you can simply google lap times and you can get an idea how fast you are. Now if you are wondering about the ovg leagues where we run specific cars with specific tracks then im afraid the only way is asking for laptimes or getting into the practice before the race if anyone shows up.

Don't worry too much about lap times to begin with. Playing with someone who's slow is not a problem. Playing with someone who may crash you out at any moment is. Once you can put in steady laps without losing control, you're ready to play in casual lobbies. You can only develop that 'race sense' once you start racing - lap times aren't the be all and end all.

well if you are starting on sim racing i suggest that you enter public servers and be patient.

Dont try to be as fast as the first guy because these guys are experienced and you are still learning , your goal for now would be to achieve a mid field tier lap time. From there , once you are comfortable, you can move on. If you are new and you dont do this you might get frustrated real quick.

If you are allready experienced try with different lines and setups until you find the sweet spot. Aaaaand if you are still unable to be fast try looking for youtube videos on how to make setups and whats the perfect line for each circuit.

If you want to test in a noncompetitive environment you can just join the public "trackday" servers in AC and just try to follow other cars while you do your hotlaps or see if anyone else wants to race a bit in the chat if you don't want to worry about fucking up more serious servers' flow.

Currently running an F3 league in AC, however I'm running 1 mandatory pit stop for tyre changes but the tyre changes take soo fricken long that there's no room for strategy.

Is there a way to adjust pit stop times as changing tyres takes longer than refueling and repairing any damage. It wouldn't be such an issue however sometimes a 2 stop could be warranted if the pit crew weren't so slow.

I understand F3 is a sprint race and therefore shouldn't require a pit stop but idgaf, my league.

Depends on how many racing games you play outside of AC, but I've had a wheel for the last 5 years and I must say it's worth it. Can't say anything about VR, but it really isn't necessary yet. Maybe in the future, but who knows

If you don't want to spend $600 or whatever on a VR headset I would at least look into TrackIR or a DIY headtracking solution so you're able to "look" toward the exit of corners and be able to see what you're doing a bit better. Not necessary, but it really fuckin' helps.

There's mods that approximate the same thing as a script that just runs automatically and turns the driver's head when near corners, but that's a bit of a rough solution.

The wheel/pedal set has definitely been worth it for me at least, and I only play AC and DiRT.

Hey guys. I'm playing Forza 6 and am having a hard time with the understeer. I'm using a Chevy SS on sport tires, ABS is the only aid that's on. No tcs, stm, and the steering is on simulation. Naturally it should be oversteer city just like the one in my driveway, right? But it isn't, it just plows straight on in a corner like an AWD Audi with a ton of bricks on the hood.

Why is it doing this? It's unplayable, I can't get into the game when I just want to drive my own car on tracks I normally can't, but it behaves absolutely and completely the wrong way.

What do I do to fix this? I've been trying to keep it as stock as possible to mirror the real car but obviously that doesn't work with Forza's physics.

Yes, though it's a bit tricky to reuse existing compounds as you have to find tires from other cars that aren't too far in terms of dimensions. Perhaps you can get away with just importing a different lut and duping the existing tire definition.

Ah, yes, racing against Wanderers in the rain after defeating a leader; my car got too hot I couldn't continue racing and when I left a pit area, it refuses to accept my challenge because my FC is now over 200 miles.

Then there's White Tiger... I don't have a lot of patience right now to enjoy this challenge in keeping up with an opponent that's faster than me, but I don't want to quit and risk not face him again until much later in the game.

Finally picked up Dirt on the summer sale after playing RBR for awhile. Why is the ai so autisticlly fast? on majority of tracks Im still 2nd or 3rd pushing as hard as I can. Does tuning save 10 - 30 seconds?

My DFP pedals have been going fine for 13 years. The first time those ghost signals showed up I took the pedals apart and clamped the potentiometer contacts down more securely. Next time I just cleaned the dust out (and took the opportunity to regrease the pedal spindles). No problems since.
