Ford somehow considered South America wasn't a continent worthy enough to import the Fiesta ST and Focus ST, despite the Clio RS and Golf GTI selling like hot cakes.

I feel like the Tacoma would sell alright enough here. For a lot of folks the Hilux might be a tad too small (especially the double-cab), while the Tundra might be a bit too big and fat

Give it a 200hp 3.0l diesel or similar, plus both automatic and manual transmission available and it'll sell
>>
>>17472792
That looks like a comfy truck.
>>
>>17472792
But the Tacoma's bed is 2 inches narrower than the Hilux's between the arches. And the Tacoma is only available with a crew cab 5' bed and extended cab 6' bed just like the Hilux, but the Hilux is also available as a single cab with a 7'8" bed. So in all regards to cargo space the Tacoma is worse, it's only got a 1 inch higher ground clearance (easily fixed with different tires on the Hilux) and it's simply a bit bigger for no reason because Americans like their shit needlessly big.

I should've explained a bit more - thats what I mean, it could be a "better" truck for those who want a more spacious and luxurious interior, with less focus on being a worksman vehicle & maximized cargo space and carrying capacity

It is a little bit of "american thinking", wanting a truck with more luxury and less cargo space; but I suppose that having more different vehicles to chose from is always a good thing

>those who want
For those who want. Thats exactly what it is. I don't really give all too much of a shit what people drive... sure, I might wonder why somebody who never does anything truckworthy drives an F350 when something like a Nissan Navara or even a fucking VW Golf would be objectively better - but thats the beauty of being free to drive what you want; nothing is stopping you

And I already drive a 14 year old Hilux myself, extended cab with fuck-all equipment... does that qualify for a real enough pickup?
>>
>>17472930
>I don't really give all too much of a shit what people drive
God damn crypto-Americans. This way of thinking is why our cities drown in smog and traffic jams. Who cares if everyone drives completely oversized shitbarges as long as they can barely afford them, right? Of course crapped up cities aren't an issue in EMPTY FUCKING NORWAY.

Well, would you prefer it to be moderately/heavily regulated?

We're free to pick whatever we want here aswell (maybe even more free, as we can import and register just about anything, with no 25 year rule), but you could say that its somewhat regulated through the classifications systems that makes some vehicles very expensive/difficult to own

You can get something like an F350, a Tundra or similar for quite an alright price if its registered as a "light truck", which makes the registration fees and whatnot much smaller, and also allows you to use the vehicles full potential in terms of payload and towing. You will however need the light truck license, which is quite expensive and also needs a renewal every five years, plus the vehicle needs a yearly inspection

Then you have the tax on horsepower & emissions which can make some cars quite expensive

I've seen one or two here in the UK. They will be very easy to import like most cars, but they don't really appeal to many people here. It certainly isn't at the top of my list for cars that I want to import if I had the money.

>>17472984
There are people in the UK who don't realise how lucky we are compared to the rest of Europe when it comes to owning cars. Insurance on pic related $258 a year if you're over 25 in my area, road tax is $2,600 for the first year then $180 after that, an inspection is between $25 and $50 depending on how friendly you are with someone in an MOT centre.

Petrol is a bit of a killer, but I've seen loads of the GT's around my area so petrol prices haven't put people off. In fact I don't think I've seen a single RHD 6th gen Mustang that hasn't been a GT.

you can import them in LHD obviously, but there's 4 for sale on autotrader, one SVX V6 and 3 SRT/Hellcats for about £60,000 each.

same with the challenger. I was hoping after we "traded" the Focus RS with the yanks for the Mustang that GM would follow suit.

Pic related would be in the list of "wish I could own". Closest I could get is a 280zx, and even those are ridiculously overpriced rust heaps (or museum-tier pieces). If I'm picky, I could get it with a "historical" import permit, but I was told I couldn't drive more than ~3000 miles a year, and fuck that

Also! Honda S2000 is probably the greatest "unreachable" car overall for me. Small displacement engine (for the insultingly high gas prices) with good power and reliability, god-tier chassis/suspension, and gorgeous looks (personal of course, but been a fan since forever). Only thing that could be better is if it wasn't convertible but rather a standard coupe. Pretty much my 10/10 when everything is considered...

Too bad the only example in the country has been turbo'd and other unspeakable stuff, and goes for the modicum of 95k US jewgolds

The land where you are expected to pay about 120 thousand US$ for a first-gen Honda NSXs (granted, only ~20k miles on it, and pretty much museum condition), 95k jewgolds for an S2000 (single one in the country, so there's that), 175k or so for a first-gen Dodge Viper (also single one in the country, it would seem. No other generation/model seems to have made it ever. Just a lonely SR 1 as far as I know), or about 50k jewgolds (honestly, too damn cheap when everything is considered) for a 4th gen Supra...an automatic, naturally aspirated Supra. That's yet another model that's likely in the single digits/you can count them with one hand, AFAIK. Hell, it might just have been the single one in the country for sale

Such an odd place this is...a place where getting an FR-S is a rather good choice for someone looking for a (new or lightly used) sports car, since Mazda fucked off in the early 2000s and never came back...so if you want something like a Miata, and don't feel like paying between 23-28 thousand US$ for a first-gen example (very rarely a second generation one might pop up), you HAVE to buy a brand-new one, then pay about 75-110% plus of it's sticker price in taxes and bureaucracy stamps to get it registered/road legal

What's that? Doesn't matter if it's 20+ years old? That makes things easier! A BMW 318IS is your best bet. Likely the only thing that's been consistently looked after these last 20-25 years, provided it belongs to someone from the BMW owners club.
A risky option would be a Nissan 180sx, beat to hell and back, no doubt, since it's a "sports" car. Solid choice overall, however
Don't want that?Sorry, but other than some FWD shitbox, a (most likely Fiat-powered, think 1.4 to 1.9 liter) Lotus 7 is your only hope of light+sporty+not retarded expensive

I feel the need to scream my lungs out, but it's late and I'd wake up the neighbors, so I'll try to sleep the rage off. Remember to be thankful that you can even have a Miata
