My CM5 passed it's "first" emissions.

I was a little concerned since I spent nearly a year with a CEL due to a bad O2 sensor, I wasn't sure if it affected the catalytic converter.

I don't see too many of those lately but I know they're around. All the DC Integras here are mostly trashed. The flat black seems to be the most popular color. Either that or all panels a different color.

Finally got a pic of this piece of shit. Is this the ugliest car Hyundai has every made? It's funny because the refresh is probably their best looking design.

Might as well ask here. Trying to get a 5th-gen Prelude as a driver/project and have 2 choices. One from a dealer which seems to be in good condition. https://www.carsforsale.com/used-car-dealer/gne-auto-wholesale-inc-fall-river-ma-d718733/inventory/details/31623027

But has 40k miles more than another one from a private owner which has some body damage and wants more cash. https://providence.craigslist.org/cto/6170956067.html

Only have time next weekend to test drive one of them, not sure which is the better deal.
>>

It shouldn't hurt it, mine had an o2 for a while and my PO didn't fix it until it failed emissions, still rolling.

Depends on what you're looking for. If you want the most raw and unforgiving version, 00-01. If you want a some refinement and slightly reduced changes of eating shit because you suck, 02-03. 04-05 for a slightly nicer transmission, an annoying clutch delay valve that should immediately be removed if it's still there, barely noticeable extra midrange torques at the expense of the 9000rpm redline, slightly slower steering and even less oversteer. 06-08 for traction control and electronic throttle.

If you go AP2 go for the 06-08. The traction control is really helpful when the weather gets shitty, and can be completely defeated at the touch of a button.

If you go AP1 I'd say 02-03.

My neighbor actually has one, but hers is the 4-door sedan, and she has this fucking horrible exhaust on it that's loud as fuck and sounds like farts. Worst part is the car is an automatic so you can imagine how horrible it sounds.

Another thing, I don't think Honda should have made a 4-door Integra, the thing looks odd as fuck in my opinion.

Finished up tonight's work on my Civic

-got the exhaust reattached at the header, and found out the dumb fucks who had it before me ground out holes in the exhaust right after the muffler flange. This does mean I get a new muffler though. Any bargain-bin cans sound good on Hondas?

-wiring is a clusterfuck. There is no way to describe it except 'a fucking mess'. The alternator is grounded to the block, which is grounded to the fender, plus the alternator is grounded again to the other fender and the top rad support. Don't get me started on the wiring harness. Found THIS gem in with the fuses as well. I had a bud with electrical proficiency aid me in this all, and he said there was something fucky with the No. 9 fuse circuit, a 10A for the 'Back Up', whatever that is?

Car is possibly in a limp mode, gonna need a new ECU, and the alternator is fucked as well. Getting the rockers ordered next morning.

Poor eurofag from a country with shitty weather and almost no snow removal service in the winter here
Im going to buy my first car soon (though I have 2 years driving experience with my parents car)
and I'm looking into something relatively fast and cheap. Preferably with some good possibility of tunning later on. Something that I loved since seeing it for the first time was MR2 and Prelude, especially the first one because of it's speed that would really be handy for me (bypass on daily route, on the highway quite often and some newbie racing)
The problem is, that as I said earlier I'm fucking poor and the snow is something more than common on the roads, so I suppose that MR2 is out of question since Ive read that they often end up as money sinks + the oversteer can get really bad at snow. I know that Celica is pretty good at snow, but does it apply to the older ones to?
Alternatively I've been thinking about 90s celica or Integra but I'm really torn between these 4 and wanted to get some help/suggestions

By the looks of it you will need to pump a lot of money into this. I don't think its worth it.
If you're really set on buying it then lowball him, make your opening offer something like $600 - $700.
>>
>>17474514
Depends a lot on area.

No point in getting a prelude unless it has the h22 in it.

If you want to keep it stock, I would recommend the SH. If you are gonna be a boy racer just get the h22 w/o sh.

Have you considered getting a CB7? or a CD7?

They have comparable handling to the non-sh preludes, have lots of junkyard mods you can do, are cheap/fun project cars.
>>
>>17485172
That's what I was thinking, I'm prepared to repair it myself, but not put 2k into parts just to get it running. I suppose I could part it out at that point.

I emailed the guy to get some more information. Depends on how open he is about it.

eh. Not even worth it..

Maybe for scrap price? $400 -$600. 4ages are a dime a dozen, but to swap motors on a AW11 you got to drop the motor, and it's kind of a pain.

Nice. As of now, I'm gonna run down to the auto salvage and check out what kind of stuff they have there. If not, it's onto Cape Breton buy&sell, then Kijiji. I've been thinking about it much more now, and want to find out what exactly my car's been through. How'd you find out your EG-# had 10 owners?
>>
>>17485589

The dealer one def has the h22a4, though probably not the SH.

The problem i'm running into is that this area was not a fan of Japanese cars during the 90s. You can get garaged Bimmers, Corvettes and Mercs from that period with less than 100k because the retirees whom own them only drove them in the summer when they come up here for vacation; those boomers loved cars with fancy badges. Anything japanese would be a stock shitbox with 200k miles, riced to hell with aftermarket stuff, or both.

I've got a 95 civic dx, my low beams aren't working and I've verified all grounds, fuses, and switches are in operating condition. In this diagram I see a "HEAD-PARK-OFF" switch, that's just referring to the multi-function switch correct? Or is there some hidden parking light switch that I bumped on accident?

Hey guys quick question, it's my first time getting an oil change here in the US. I used to use shell helix ultra after doing some research it seems to be a international only brand. And penzoil ultra is the equivalent. Unfourtunately i can't seem to find an 0w-20 version(only version was platinum) and just ended up using the Honda brand. My question:
-is there much difference between platinum and the ultra?
-where does Honda get its 0w-20 from?
>>

I always assume that, with some exception, all SAE oil is from the same place. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
>>
>>17492272
MR has traction but once it slips it's less forgiving. Celica is cheaper

1995 civic hatch here as a first car. Only complaint is that it is geared quite low, like 5th is fine at 30mph so by the time im doing 70 on the motorway my little d13b2 is pretty loud lmao so normally stick to 60 - 65 which is the sweet spot. No tach so not sure of how many revs im doing lol. Anddd the previous owner ( an old lady so not driven hard or anything never had it serviced for the 5 - 6years that she had it, apart from work to pass MOT's and it had its first service a month ago all they needed to do was change the spark plugs and clean the air filter lol (and all the standard stuff such as oil and topping up various fluids.) But the car is so damn reliable I love it.
>>
>>17493583
70 may be around 4000? My 120hp D16 is around 3000 at 70. Should be able to get a cluster with an RPM gauge for cheap and move your odometer to it. Pretty easy process, can just pop out the odometer from where it mounts.

Car should last a very long time with basic maintenance of it hasn't been fucked with a lot like mine was.

How do I paint my hood for cheap? The last owner replaced the hood and tried to paint it but fucked up the texture. I don't have a garage or anything and the places online all say I need like 10 kinds of sandpaper, primer, paint, gloss, and rubbing compound and other shit.
How do I actually fix this?

Thinking about getting a 3rd gen integra preferably 2001 (with the bug eye headlights you know) anything I should be aware about before my ads gets stranded on the side if the highway?
>>
>>17493703
Same boat as you pal, right in the middle of painting mine.

Materials:
>400 grit wet sandpaper
>1000 grit wet sand paper
>3-4 cans of spray on primer
>4-5 cans automotive paint (Crylon is a good one, but DO NOT USE TREMCLAD)
>Clearcoat, optional (Crylon doesn't need a clear coat, but get one if you like.)

Procedure
>Sand down hood dry with 400 grit (the wed sandpaper is just a preference)
>coat entire hood with 2-3 layers of primer, in the same direction each time (left to right or top to bottom)
>sand again with 400 grit
>apply 4-6 layers of automotive paint evenly, in same direction as primer
>wet sand with 1000 grit for even finish
If clear coating:
>apply 2-3 layers of clear coat in same direction as paint
>wet sand with 1000 grit

i've been thinking about new car for street racing
mostly had in mind civic, prelude and maybe toyota celica
which one would be the best for it? or maybe some other shitbox

Apparently it's been in one wreck, but it wasn't too hard, and it's been fixed up really well. Because of general wear it needs new trailing arm bushings, lower motor mounts, O2 sensor, wiper blades, and a wiper combo switch, but other than that it's good

Yeah it's pretty bad. Shirt sticking to my back all day. Doesn't help that the sun doesn't go away until well after 8PM. I'll be diagnosing that after I replace the water pump on the Corolla.

My rear could use a bit of a lift too....

But yeah I'm too cheap to spend that much on a hood. I almost got a CF tailgate for $100 but somebody beat me too it. I was ready to pay that much, but instead I got a primered hood and a OEM tailgate for $100.
