The majority of US-market VWs is built in Mexico, and have a bit of a history of having much worse quality control than the German-built models.
Seeing as you've bought a Polo, which isn't sold in the US, there's a good chance you're in Europe, and your Polo was built in Germany.
One way to know for sure is to check the VIN, iirc.
