i'm also thinking about getting a red or blue top 4age 16v. i have a 4age 16v header that came with the car and the guy i got the car from was going to get the cams and pistons resurfaced and make it run but i've never heard of a 4age 16v head on top of a 4ac block

Go to club4ag or dorikaze for actual information. You're going to pay more for the swap than you would have for a nice GTS, but thank you for your sacrifice. We need more good GTS conversions in the US.

you can still use the stock block, but from what I remember you have to replace the pistons, rods and maybe the crank as well? not sure about the crank but pretty sure you have to replace the pistons,, and iirc the rods will need to be swapped too. basically its a hell of a lot easier to just swap in a new engine. I imaine you can keep the stock gearbox, and the engine mounts will be the same, but the rear end on the sr5 is completly diferent, so you will need to do a complete swap from a gts.

He'll need a GTS wiring harness too. And GTS gas tank. Fuel pump and lines. The rear end and tranny shouldn't be ignored. Don't think I'd want to ask how much a shop would charge for all that shit. 8-12k maybe? Less if you can do some shit on your own.

Does your sr5 have an amazing chassis? Rust free?

yeah that's what i was leaning more towards. i think i'm just gunna go all the way and do the 4age blacktop swap and get all the gts parts i need on CL. from what i read online to do the swap is
gts rear end
gts fuel pump and lines
gts gas tank
etc...
