It's really not worth it. I know you hate to hear it but I had a 5.2 Ram and tried everything to get some more power out of it. It's a money pit as big as selling it and getting a cummins would cost.

"worth" is entirely subjective here. in terms of practicality, no. the 4.3 has fuck all in terms of performance parts. why they stuck the 4.3 into a fullsize is beyond me. if power's what you want, a 350 swap would probably be cheaper.

Ok OP, welcome to the GMT400 club! Congrats!
Answer: no. The iron block 4.3 won't like the boost very much. And a super charger is completely out of the question. Yes it does redline at 4K but you can change that easily since it is Vortec.
Other option: get a Vortec 350 for like 200 bucks and rebuild it with some headers, better intake and some heads similar to the LT4 corvette heads. Pic is of my 92 c1500 getting a 350 swap.

Definitely way cheaper. Agree with this Anon. Also your truck has probably 3.08 gears in her, so she's not very fast but she sips gas. Got 25mpg in mine with the 5 speed.

Check out some of the chevy forums. Remember the 4.3 was used in the typhoon/cyclone. They can make a stupid amount of power. But expect to spend a fuck ton of time and money.

I got mine at a swap meet for $150. It had 90K miles on it and was from a 94 caprice, which was still TBI so it was fine. There are tons of 95-99 trucks out there for you to salvage a motor from. You have to have Vortec though if you want an easy swap. Do not buy a 88-94 engine, it will not be easy and Vortec is significantly better.
Also as other Anons have mentioned you could do an LS swap with a 5.3, 6.0, 4.8 or whatever. It's a lot easier on a Vortec truck.

A lot of the front end accessories can be used with the V8.
You would need to get:
Oil pan depending on 2 or 4 wheel drive
ECU
Fan shroud
Radiator
Maybe a new drive shaft? Not sure on that
