It's bisected by Manzanar Reward Rd. which looks to be accessible off of the 395 from jewgle maps.
Satellite view makes it appear to be in pretty dismal condition but if you look closely, there's what appears to be tiremarks from a conefagging event (you can also find with street view)

Yes you drive across it to access the river and a dirt road on the other side. They had put up some K rail across the runway it was a little overgrown through the cracks in the cement but drivable last I was there.

Pro tip the reward mine is across the runway at Manzanar and you can drive in the tunnel.

It's not just anime. We go to meet friends who also traveled from distant parts of the country and used the con as an excuse to get together. It's a big deal when you schedule a ca meet to be on the same date as AX. Lots of people already have arrangements to meet at AX. I also drive (pun intended) over with 40TB of hard drives (along with drive docks) to help others standardize their collections from distro. Lots of peeps can't meet the entrance requirements of various private distro networks, so this is where I (and doubtless many others) distribute files to people we know online who made arrangements to meet at AX.
