Not sure if they ever were galvanized, but their paint is pretty good so they're not as rust-prone as you might think.
Just make sure to inspect the underbody, wheel wells and door sills.

Then I'm guessing that was another improvement they made to the 2000+ models, but I have literally zero evidence to base that on.
