Currently own a first gen Audi A3 and I can tell you that this thing is great even with a 1.8 naturally aspirated engine. Of course the 1.8 Tubro is legendary for how good it is but I'm content with what I have currently. Audi makes some damn well made and comfortable cars.

cant choose without a price range. they all make great cars and depending on what market segment i was currently interested in i would go for one or the other. of course ive never driven the majority of them so what do i know. But the RS7, Alpina B6, and E63 are probably my current favorites from each of them. Going used though opens up a whole bunch of options, like big turbo E30/34s, W204 C63s, Ur Quattros, E93 M3s, supercharged B7 RS4s, etc etc.

I'm biased, but of the 3 I'd go Audi on current models. BMW seems to have dropped off in quality in recent years and it has the stigma of mainly having human trash driving its cars. Not really BMW's fault, but I just wouldn't want to be seen in one.

MB has the cache and is still probably the most prestigious mid luxury brand, but I think the current styling is pig ugly and boring.

Audi is unfortunately tied to VW but still makes great cars that look amazing and they have performance models throughout the line. Not every wannabe rich boy twat drives one too, like MB or BMW.

Those vehicles are pedestrian compared to the level of engineering and focus on performance that Porsche put into the Boxster. I own a 97 540i and I love it so much it made me a bmw fanboy.
This past weekend however, I went to a bmw dealership and test drove a 17 340i m sport and while it was super fast, it was not worth the sticker price of $60k. The interior and infotainment system was cluttered and not up to par.
Mercedes nowadays is lightyears ahead of bmw and audi technology and interior wise.
