Literally 100 times better than a GTR
What would possess someone to make a shitposting thread like this?
It's not a "true" Porsche anymore. it's mid-engined now instead of rear-engined supposedly to improve the handling.
but Porsche aficionados like the engine being mounted behind the rear axle.

It's not to because of bad handling that they moved the engine. They did it so they could use bigger diffuser like others do and have better aero. They actually had thebest handling on the wet track of all GTLM cars

Damn, the rears of the 911 and the Vantage are a gift from God.

Porsche a CUTE!
>>17399022
Its not a 'true' 911.
its a 718 now.

It's not really like they want to use the diffuser because the others do, it's because a diffuser that big has become mandatory for the 2017 rules and they couldn't possibly fit one with a rear engine without breaking several other mandatory measurements of the rear of the car or completely redesigning the rear half of the vehicle, which is why they were forced to ask other manufacturers for a waiver in order to keep racing in the WEC, just like Ford did last year (for completely different reasons)

Thank you for clarification, I knew it was because the diffuser but forgot why exactly
>>17399983
They should race 718-based cars, like they did with its namesake.
Also, potential hot 6cyl turbo 718s for homologation purposes, anyone?
>>17400196
that's true, I don't know why exactly WEC changed the rules with those huge diffusers now. I guess it's to make a bigger visual difference between GTE and GT3 cars?

I don't think it's just the visual difference, but rather to give a slight increase in performance for GTEs. Considering LMP1s keep getting faster each year and LMP2s had a huge bump in power, it makes sense to try and increase performance for the whole field of GTs in order to make them faster and be less of a danger for all the other faster cars racing around them.
