I was wondering if the reliability of the Z32 was just an /o/ meme or if it is actually a money pit?

Are they both TT, or do you have a TT and N/A?
The issue is that most you can afford have been neglected. Same issue with the 3000GT. Repairs aren't cheap and this is not a car you want to use cheap parts on. If you can find one that's been upkept they are reliable.
I daily a Z32 and I've only had it break down twice. First was the water pump, it started weeping coolant so I had to do the whole 120k mile service a bit earlier. Second was the alternator, the power steering leak Nissans are notorious for kills alternators.

Agreed.

3000GT just had a weak as fuck driveline, that's mostly it. Well, and the fact that they crammed way too many electronics into it.
