Not sure what your point is here. The speed wasn't the emphasis of that webm. Just the little headshake from the front wheel popping up over the hill. Also that isn't a highway. It's a little rural road.

Is it really a hybrid when by the end the were all Chrysler Parts?

Late XJs are GOAT though, best version of the I6, AX15, 8.25 rear.

I miss my TJ, 4.0, AX15, LSD D30 Rear with 4.55 gears on 31" tires. Thing could do most blue trails at Rousch Creek and still get sideways when I wanted too.

Chrysler bought all the tooling for the AMC stuff. Drivetrain components stayed mostly the same, light exterior differences. The biggest difference is the interior and electrics which were both much improved IMO.

Parking spaces are for cars, you can just put bikes wherever.

Naturally, there are three general chemical components to none. Seratonin and the like.
One is released in abundance when you try new experiences, like a new highway or trail.
One when you do physical activity, like lifting so you can heft your pigfat American shitbike around.
And the third when you meet friendly people, new or old. Like literally anybody who pulls alongside you at a stoplight.

Buy a modular so it's easier to force yourself to be social, and yes. Motorbikes are generally good for depression.

Some of the most amazing times Ive had in my adult life have been on 2 wheels, with and without people.
Its a amazing hobby that can become a lifestyle. Its a mix between a type of freedom of everything around you, and the fear that youll more or less die at any moment.
I recommend it not for the thrill of the chase but of what can happen in your life and what possible adventures 2 wheels will lead you on.

That's true for any bike. 1st gear no gas is 10ish kph, if you wanna go slower you have to brake, but that's gonna stall your engine so you pull in the clutch a bit and give it gas to make the whole thing go smoother.

This guy...
>>
Lowsided today. On a road I had never been on before, came over the crest of a hill to see a steep downhill decline with a hairpin turn. Braked as much as I could before being forced to initiate the turn, leaned as hard as I could (boot/peg was scraping) and the bike was actually making it around the corner until I hit a pocket of gravel and it shot out from under me. Slid around 100 feet into a ravine but walked away with just a few scrapes because I was fully geared up. Poor baiku only suffered cosmetic damage and a bent shifter on top of gravel getting into every fucking nook and cranny. Took the headlight assembly off and rocks poured out.

Bad day.

Run

My bikeu also has loud exhaust (250$ for first offence, then $500 then $2000. Some stock victorys have failed.), is missing all 5 reflectors (78$ x 5), and has non dot signal lights (115$).

The mayor here lives in a really rich part of the city which also happens to have the cities only curvy road pass right through. The mayor has a hate boner for motorcycles because of noise from that road, therefor cops also have hate boners. Riding around with no tag you vet they will throw the fucking book at me. Fuuuck that.

Combined with no tag im probably looking at about 1000 + impound/tow costs. They cant catch a 1000, especially if already in the city. Lots of places to tuck into and chill for a few hours.
>>

Yes

They also set up checkstops on popular cruising roads where they pull in every motorcycle that goes by, and hammer them on everything they can. The noise law is city bylaw.

Im moving mainly because of it. Between that and photoradar that hides in the sneakiest places like on-ramps (to hit people accelerating to merging speed) or artificially low freeways, im just done with this place.
>>
>>17396466

I'm glad they don't do that shit around here because I'd be super fucked. I have a Grom with a racing exhaust that's waaaaaayyy too loud and I ain't about to be outrunning anyone on that thing.

I hear it's pretty hard to start on a cruiser or tourer, but that's the kind of bike I'm really after. Big and solid with a lot of storage and a sizable enough gas tank for a longer trip.

Should I just start on a 500-600 and strap a trunk to it, or go memes for dreams on a middleweight cruiser like a CTX700?

Blog time.

I did the waterfront today, to cool some relationship troubles. Made it less than a quarter mile before hitting late night traffic. No problem, it's supposed to be a slow cruise anyway.

As we go along, 5 under the whole way, cars start peeling off the train. One at a restaurant, two at each backroad turn-off, and we pull up to the light where it goes 35-50 mph.
Order: Shitty Chevy, CBR1000rr, GSX-R whatever, Kia econobox, me.

Light turns green, Chevrolet knows what's up. Peals out like it's NASCAR, leaves us all behind.
Us ALL behind. This onramp is a long sweeper, right hand.
The lane splits in two...I'm already wondering why we're not dusted, but maybe they want to ride together. Safety in numbers.
I take the right lane, Kia boxes me out. Again, no big. I hadn't even made their blindspot, so I'm safe. Back to the left and roll on.
...I'm gaining on this 600. Minimum 600, could be a litre.
What the fuck? They're staggered and chilling along both bumpers of this car.
There is literally no way to pass until we join 705, the interchange loops. They're fun for me, but surely these cats are going to open up when the speed does...
...
.......
..........WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU BOTH DOING IN THE FAST LANE! I AM A GODDAMNED 250! HOW DID I COME UP ON THIS SUZUKI'S ASS ON THE STRAIGHT?
We come onto the sweeping onramp to real I5... no cars, no trucks.
Both of these bozos are doing a steady 40 in a corner rated 45 in bad weather. And a fucking car. I can't even see them leaning.
---

So, that's why I don't care for the 600-first crowd. This cbr cost a minimum 15 times what my little shit did, plus mods. If you're not going to use the power, why even bother?

Epilogue: I pulled up alongside them at the 5-16 interchange. Showed them jazzhands before they got pissed and finally tore away.
Related; my cb250, minihawk. If you two are reading this, I want an explanation.
(And to apologize for nearly crashing out your bottom bitch. I just assumed we'd be on the same page)

What about the preceding post suggests "race" to y'all? Speed is a tool we use to avoid unsafe positions, yes?
So, why chill in the blindspot of this car, or not dust the cars trying to join our lane, from right?

As 250, I survive by maintaining situational awareness, over the quality of my brakes or the power I don't have. Makes every action hyper-deliberate, if you will. These riders had everything available, and were still asking to get smeared.

>>17397286
I mean, it's encouraging people to waste their money when they'd be perfectly fine on a 300/500.
I just think MOAR POWAH is a strange assumption to make, especially after seeing chickenshits like this.

That's not smart, but doesn't mean they should be speeding.
>

They probably go fast sometimes, but not always. Having a fast bike doesn't mean you have to go fast all the time.
Or maybe they never go fast. Who cares. It's their money and if they like their bikes there's nothing wrong with that. You're autistic as fuck.
>>
>>17397242
semi related I was on some B-roads last night on my 125 stuck behind a car going excruciatingly slow through the corners but the speed limit on the straights.
there were trees on both sides so I couldn't take him in the corners with out risking getting yaminoobed and I didn't have the speed to take him on the straights.

if he just picked a speed it would have been fine but instead I just got a totally cucked ride till we got to the A-road which is no fun on a 125 anyway.
>>
>>17397345
>What about the preceding post suggests "race" to y'all?
>If you're not going to use the power, why even bother?

It's blatantly obvious you haven't ridden a fast bike. Nothing except a fast bike comes close to fast bikes.
Now sit the fuck down.
>>
>>17397373
If that happens I just find a nice spot to pull over and hang out for a few minutes so I'm not stuck behind him.

Doesn't happen to me anymore since I ride a liter peter I can just zoom past them in a couple seconds.
>>
>>17397361
The big bikes are nicer to ride even at slow speeds, long maintenance intervals, last longer, more passing power, etc.

Maybe they just saw their friend go down and wanted to take it easy on the way home, who gives a fuck? Just enjoy yourself and you'll have way more fun instead of worrying about other people.

Well, I went out to blow off steam anyway. The personal rant did the trick.

We do need to have a serious collective discussion about recommending supersports and large displacement bikes to everybody, though. Specific example aside, I think it'd enrich the US market if the cc count got some variety.

Meh. The one time. (I'm sure you mean experience, not distance in this case?) 80's Magna, while I was in the market last September. The cb250 was $600 cheaper, and the V4 seemed like it'd be slightly too much for icy roads with my skill at the time.
We'll find out a year or two down the road. I want to ride the wheels off this thing, so long as proper new bikes are still out of reach.

My initial gripe was about changing position relative to surrounding traffic. More or less power just makes it easier to do so, hence the confusion / frustration.

Yeah. And with winter coming that soon?

Next time, I'm buying at the beginning of the thaw. Before the dealership is flooded with fairweather riders, but after it's a life-threatening proposition.

Can cops get you for accelerating too quickly from a stop if your front wheel never leaves the ground? I like to hammer on it to get up to speed quickly but never been sure if its 100% legal.

Many anti-boyracer laws thanks to F&F.
Excessive display of acceleration or something IIRC. It's at the discretion of the officer as there's no way to prove you didn't.
>>
Anyone got the proficient motorcycling pdf ?
>>
>>17397523
there are no rules against acceleration, perhaps reckless driving if you are blasting through a ped heavy area
>>
>>17397531
How do you even measure that and would it even hold up in court? Some guy in a 15 year old sti got mad at me yesterday because I split up beside him and killed him off the line when he tried to accelerate quickly to get into the other lane.

Asked me if I "wanted to go" at the next light, mad his outdated sports car couldn't keep up.

Must be nice.
The Cascadia region has three seasons. Not raining, raining, and rain with black ice.
It's great, in that I can ride nearly every day when properly dressed. I think it only snowed twice this year. A lot of other riders would disagree, but I tend to question their forethought.
>>
>>17397538
depends where you live
exhibition of speed / acceleration is a law in some places and is usually what is given when they can't prove you were racing someone but still accelerated hard
if it's in a risky situation you could get a dangerous driving tho

>>
>>17397678
They're worth it. I slid during the last big rainstorm of the year, Icon DKR overpants with that hip protection.

If I could afford a decent summer set, I want a touring suit to replace the wax-cotton jacket I've got. Bit of mesh, with waterproof liner.

I'm afraid I may not make enough money before it cools down again, though. I'm so sold on the pants I've got, I may just go mix/match to afford the DKR jacket this winter.
>>
>>17397683
I thought about that too.

I ride to and from work, so I wouldn't be able to do the jeans.
