when a driver overtakes someone and they are clearly more than half a length ahead, any collision made by the overtaken is on them. and if you look closely, the porche clearly ran into the corvette at the end of the turn due to correcting its understeer (it slowed down)

I went this year with my dad and a few of his friends.
During the last half hour of the race, we went back to the track and found one of those massive screens to watch the race on when the cars weren't near our part of the track.
Le Mans is actually a relatively short journey for quite a few Brits so those in the crowd that weren't French were almost always Brits.
Anyway, the last few laps between the Corvette and Aston was a huge rollercoaster of emotions for us.
The crowd went ecstatic when the Aston finally overtook the Corvette, and when the Corvette went into the Aston there were some people there that looked like they could choke the first vaguely American person they could get their hands on. When the Corvette cut the chicane on the Mulsanne there were some people that looked like they were going to cry and the mood of the crowd settled
As the Aston got closer, we were getting lower and lower and when it reovertook the Corvette, we all cheered, and then when we realised it had won GTE1, we cheered even louder
When the cars room their victory lap, the Aston got by far the loudest cheer from our crowd and the stands that were on the other side of the track.
I was saying this to someone in an /sp/ thread yesterday, everyone who has an interest in Motorsport should go and spend a few days at Le Mans camping for the race

i spend about half a dozen nights at the track a year, and i have never once seen a current gen stock m3/4 run anything faster than a 14. they all trap up around high 110s-120 but the people driving them just cant launch/shift for shit (or its just impossible to do any better with them, idk ive never driven one so i shouldnt judge). i run a 12.6 with awd and wreck them at the track or anywhere off the line, but i only trap 108 so they rape me on the highway or anything over like 40 from a roll.

basically if you can get a good launch on an m4 and youre driving a 12 second car, you will make them look stupid. from a roll they will probably embarrass you.

Same thing happens with the Volt btw, and I assume most electric cars. The whole "silent" aspect is a big part of marketing, but you can absolutely hear whine from the motors, which sounds objectively worse than literally any engine. I always play music fairly loudly when I drive.

the biggest racing fuck up of the year was the Glickenhaus at 24H burgerking. the SCG 003C was actually competitive with the SP9 GT3-pro cars for the first time and leading the race. Glickenhaus was single-handedly taking on the biggest manufacturers. The previous P4/5 wasn't this competitive to go for the overall win.

I blame the drivers. Now Glickenhaus needs an upgrade in his drivers if he wants to win.
