Would buying a late 90s bmw z3 2.8 be a bad idea?
im only 18 but i have 15k to my name, steady paying job, low living costs, and mechanically inclined
insurance on this is cheap compared to other cars ive looked at

should also add that this will be my daily driver in socal

Yes that's a bad idea.
should be alright, a 2000 or 2001 3.0i would be better but the 2.8's rock fuckin solid and no vanos to worry about, i believe. also lots of power potential and knowledge from e36 wackos
downsides are the cheap shitty interior you'll be replacing parts from regularly and a fucking weird frankenstein suspension that loves rear wheel hop you can't really eliminate
that said, comfy interior and i personally adore the styling
just make sure you can drop at least a grand per year on repairs, and MAKE SURE you find a well cared for example, don't try to fix up a bad example it always costs more.
also make sure you have a garage or car port to work on it so you don't need to worry about time of day or weather

E30 has the same rear suspension right? I've never had bad wheel hop in mine.

something about the z3 makes it screwy though
it's an e36 front end and an e30 rear end. funky shit
also their prices are inflated to hell in the northeast, a clean manual 3.0 from 01 is 10 grand minimum

Aren't the E36 compacts like this too? Do they get the whole wheel-hop shit from it?
>>17388777
i know very little about the e36 compacts but i wouldn't be surprised
i mean it's not that bad it's just annoying and arguably gives the car more character

>Wheel hop gives a car character
Are you drunk?
>>17388777
No wheel hop here. Im lowered on Bilsteins all around (TI rear, 6cly front) with H&R race in the rear and HR sports up front. I get lift off overseer but thats about it.
