I recently bought a 5-speed 1999 VW Polo with a 1litre engine and a me and a bunch of my friends decided to try and make it a 4x4. We talked about getting parts from a 4x4 Subaru Vivio and transfer them to the Polo. We're a bunch if young lads looking for something to do. Any advice or suggestions of what to do or should I just get a Vivio?

you will choke that tiny engine with powerloss because of the drivetrain.
if you're serious about this, at least try to stuff a turbo 1.8 in there from an old passat or something

you could try to re-create a Golf Country but with that polo as base

There were AWD Golfs/A3s/TTs, so maybe you could nick the entire drivetrain from one of those?
Have fun cutting and welding floor pans and mounting points though.
